Thoughts on Ravenwood?

I recently bought a couple tins on a whim from Ravenwood and they should be arriving today. I'm the type to judge the shit of of a book by its cover and the tin art won me over.

However, I don't know about them, minus that they're blended by a guy named Ravenwood - one bad ass moniker. Where does he get his leaf? How long has he been doing this?

And, perhaps most important... how is it?

Off topic but I hate that saying about judging a book by it's cover. The cover often tells you a lot about a book. Especially since now people don't replace the cover of a book every so often by hand back when books were a big financial investment. You know and the judging would be more accurately called appraisal. Don't appraise a book by it's cover.

If it wasn't, my reference was in that I judged these Ravenwood tins by their covers art. It's some kind of small batch tobacco blended in the USA but the tins aren't equipped with any information, so I'm proceeding blind.

As for where he sources the leaf, I don’t have any idea. Maybe someone savvier than me could look at the oriental components and match them up with where the present sources of those blender leaves are available.

Nepenthe is absolutely incredible, I highly recommend it. I tried his Frog Morton's Chalet and it didn't do much for me, it was a fairly pedestrian aromatic English.
