I got one of his magnetic natural burl ones from Smoker's Haven when they had an auction on ebay 10 years ago for $30. Interesting piece just not practical.

It would never get there. The past three pipe and tobacco shipments I've sent out were lost or destroyed in transit. Over 4 grand in that box. Don't want those lost.

I bought a nice 12 pipe rack from either smoking pipes or tobacco pipes. It's been 10 or 15 years ago. Like everything else racks cost more than I would pay now. I like the leather strap loops too.

I just looked at his website and some of those magnetic ones are masterpieces however, they don’t seem to be available. After seeing those I’m convinced I’m going to have to find one or make some attempt to recreate one of my own using similar techniques.

I have boxes of meers, a crate of my NIB pipes and some bags of cobs , but this is the bulk of my pipes collection. No one in my house really wants to see it but me, anyway. Lol



The cases hold 7-10 pipes based on shape/size. Helps with the dusting, too.

Neal Yarm does excellent work as well and he makes large capacity racks that can be found on SPC .

They’re okay for Aromatics but for anything else I use mason jars.

I got my pipe cabinet off eBay from some antique store. Mine only holds 6, but when I was surfing around looking, there were a bunch of nice cabinets and racks and all kinds of stuff like that on there, from 3 pipes to 300 pipes. Nice wooden racks and cabinets

What did you us to make the place where the bow sits? I’ve played with a different types of router bits, I know a lot of people use a forstner bit

I used a wood bit after making the first I traced out the rest and sanded it.
The racks are 2-1/2 Inches off the back wall so bent pipes can sit without touching the back wall.
The bowl areas were cut with a wood paddle bit as well

Antique shops often have a good selection of pipe racks, usually for 3 to 10 pipes but sometimes you'll find some with more. Often they come with one of those humidor jars. If you have a Tinder Box in your area you might want to check out there, the one in Tacoma has a bigger selection of pipe racks than tins.

Over the past 60 years I've tried them all. I guess my favorite, and the ones I use the most, are my 2 rotating lazy susan racks. One sets on each side of my computer monitor. They seem to hold the most pipes in the least space. Good luck,

Did you look at any of the vintage Decatur Industries products on eBay and Etsy?

There is a lot of stuff out there that is functional and also nice to look at. Most items are in pretty good shape and if you'd like to put your own stamp on it, a little sanding, stain/paint and you can easily make it match your existing furniture. I am kicking myself for not buying a 14 pipe wall cabinet for $70 at a local antique shop when I first saw it. I went back a week later and it was gone.

My buddy has a collection of about 200 pipes. He didn't care about open display storages but was interested in a cabinet he could keep them in. He ended up buying a jewelry armoire similar to the one in the picture. There were several felt line drawers. There were also the side sections(where you would normally hang necklaces) that he added shelves and some
Nylon cords that held all his billiards in place. He bought the jewlery cabinet on Facebook marketplace for $25. Brilliant.
