Thoughts on "giant" pipes?

I found this pipe in an antique shop last month and it is huge!!

I mean it is huge to me, I am 6 foot, 4 inches (1.9m) tall and I have big hands and this is the pipe in my hand...

So the question I pose is this... What is your perception of giant pipes, are they novelty pipes or serious pipes?!? Do you feel like you would ever want to own one if you had the chance?
P.S. - I didn't buy the pipe because it was broken and he wanted more than I was willing to pay for a broken pipe.

Bubba, I have 3 "giant" pipes, the bowls are 2 1/2" high, the camber is 1" dia and 2" deep. They are nice for a relaxing at home schmoke.

I have my Nording giant and love it. I don't get to smoke it offen since you have to pack a lunch to finish a bowl, but if you have the time I say do it.

Johs, Nording, Boswell, and Mario Grandie has some nice looking giant. I got my Nording giant from Cup o Joes. I grabbed a partial Rustifaction since the price was right.

i read the reason for large pipes is that you can smoke and relight all day.

the large bowl allows the baccy to stay moist and not dry out for a all

day smoke.

I have a Lorenzo Titanic. Bent style with a flat bottom. I think you could put a 1/2 oz or more in it and smoke for hours. Great pipe but one for sitting; and everything smokes well in it.

My Nordings and a Giant GBD are mostly used to smoke aro blends , The wider bowls cool the smoke better than a 3/4 bowl . They work great if one has the time to enjoy them .

The very large giant bowl pipes, while frequently most attractive, are not "clenchable" for me....so I don't use them....

I like larger pipes, i think they look great. Especially a nice big poker.

Bubba if yours was black it would be almost identical to my Ben Wade.
It fits my palms beautifully.

I like to smoke it outside on very cold days.

It warms my hands.

The bowl is 1" across and 2-1/2" deep.

I love mine, I've had it since 1976 or 7.

I think it was my second pipe.

Among those who smoke them, they are well thought of. I have a small

number of very large Meerschaums that I smoke, when I'm in the mood.

I kinda prefer larger pipes, they seem more comfortable to hold for me.
p.s. Girlfriend just burst out laughing reading this thread over my shoulder, saying something bout guys comparing sizes. I think I need to find a new girlfriend

I'm odd man out on this one. At 5'7" I don't care for anything that makes me look or feel smaller.

That last pic is super, bet he can get a nic buzz for the whole neighborhood. Was at a pipe show today and saw some really big pipes. Quite nice to look at, but after picking up a few they didn't feel that nice in the my hand, and they were far too large to try hanging them out of my mouth. But everything has its place and the guy next to me reached in a massive paw and in his hand it looked just right.
