I was looking at ebay this morning when a pipe caught my eye, a 1960/70 era GBD Prehistoric Perspex 122 estate pipe.
Does anyone have any experience with this sort of pipe or GBDs in general? I think it looks brilliant but I've never heard of anyone smoking one. Thanks!

The majority of the GBD pipes in my collection have Perspex stems. They smoke fine, but the airway can get brown and unsightly (that one looks pristine). I have at least one Prehistoric and the texture feels good in the hand. I have a Colossus with a very wide chamber and that can get hot if you get careless with your cadence. Lots of people collect GBD pipes, and with good reason. If you dig it, get it.

I just looked on eBay and saw the price (and the rim is darkened more than I originally thought). You can probably find a similar pipe for much less. Check the completed auctions to see what various GBD pipes sell for—it can vary quite a lot.
Wow I just checked the completed auctions, I'll wait for one to come around that's a little lower in price. I actually don't mind the brown look of the airway, kind of fits in with the whole aesthetic of the pipe in my opinion haha. Thanks for the insight!
