Haha, I hope this next statement does not come off as racist. However, foreigners who are angry, Asians especially, and who cannot pronounce English correctly make me laugh. I have run into countless of them at various jobs over the years and couldn't help but laugh. Of course that only made them even more irritated but that also made me laugh even harder.

Wow! After reading the "First Floor:" I felt that Pete Townshend and Gary Glitter were in the same room.

Most Americans think that foreigners struggling to use English are stupid, or, they find humor in the attempt.
While learning to speak Spanish I discovered that, almost to a man, Hispanics were flattered to find

someone making an effort to speak their tongue.
For me, that was a humbling experience.

I agree Cortez that Americans can be assholes to new English speakers. Whereas other cultures are much mre accepting of those new to speaking their language. I have traveled to Italy, Germany, Guatemala, and Kenya and in each country when I tried to speak the language they were encouraging and actually enjoyed helping me learn to speak their language. I try to be respectful to new English speakers but sometimes it just sounds ridiculous and my American pompous attitude cones out. :)

I was trained as a Hanoi dialect Vietnamese translator-interpreter back in the day. The thought processes behind oriental languages are much different than with Western languages. Transliteration (word-by-word translation) is often pure gibberish. Some ideas translate easily, others don't really translate at all.

Native American sentence structure will drive an English speaker nuts. Words come in order of importance.

It did a number on the Japanese during World War II as well.

At least we try our best. Google translate is really bad sometimes though.
