I would only add that this is the best use of restoration and colorizing and sound that I've seen, ultimately special effects that enhance the accuracy of the presentation. It also occurred to me that though the grimness of the war is thoroughly explored, the film goes easy on the viewer realizing that if you over-burden people, they will simply shut down and not be able to take it in. Like the U.S. Civil War, World War One surprised the adversaries in the horror and immensity of the killing using new technology.
