I had a tree fall on my truck back during Thanksgiving, and it dented my hood and cab roof. It really wasn't bad, but the paint and body place couldn't get to it till last month. Supply chain issues, they said. Whatever. But, they kept it for a month. A month of driving and smoking in a rental car. I really missed my truck. Driving a small car made me feel like a poor person trying to save money on gas, yuck. Plus, it had these dings, warnings, and flashing lights if you drove over a line in the road. And, every now and then it would make a buzzer sound for no apparent reason. And, a stupid back up camera, like I am some kind of idiot that can't back a car up. I hated the damned thing and was anxious to ditch it.

So, I was excited to get that call that my truck was finished, and I could come pick it up. First off, the car rental places always tell you that you can't smoke in the rentals, and I prove them wrong every time. They never say a word. I'm pretty sure that they mean just cigarettes, which do leave behind a terrible stench. Good thing pipes don't. If they asked, I would totally pay whatever fine they want to inflict on me, ha ha.

But, anyway, I finished the paperwork, and got into the truck, and the workers were all standing around watching my reaction when I get in. When I opened the door I was hit with the smell of Lysol. I hate that smell. I do not even allow candles in my home. The worker came up and said that he had a hard time getting the smoke smell out of my truck. He also said that he vacuumed a pound of tobacco out from under my seat. I was furious. I told that peckerhead that no one had asked me if they could clean up the cab. And, I especially did not want the smell "dealt with," like it was some sort of negative thing. After putting a finger in all of their faces and letting them all know of my disappointment with their company, I left with some rubber left on their asphalt. I know, I know... I was a Karen, but they were the ones "assuming shit". Not everyone wants to drive something that smells like a hospital bathroom. Hell, I can't even stand the "new car smell" as it reminds me too much of Sutliff tobaccos.

This assumption that the smell of the finest pipe tobaccos is a negative is so wrong to me. And, I do not keep a vehicle with resale in mind. I buy a vehicle to use it at my will, not to keep in some sort of order for the next owner. And, it affecting resale, ha ha, I've never had that problem, and I could care less what I will get for it. I will buy my next vehicle when I get tired of this one, same way i bought this one... paid for at the time of sale.

Anyways, my truck is ghosted with the lakeland smell of Lysol. It's terrible. I am running errands in it today, windows down, smoking like a freight train to return my truck to its comforting aromas of home for me. I got a call from the owner of the Paint and Body place just a minute ago, apologizing for his employee's assumptions. He was very apologetic, and I forgave him and his company. But, this doesn't mean that I will forget...

Tell me how much you love the aroma of fine tobaccos. Keep it positive. puffy

OMG that's funny, but not. I hate Lysol too, it's just a nasty chemical smell. There's nothing "pine" about it

As a young guy I was a Diesel mechanic. A big rig came in for work and I did the work and had some extra time. The cab reeked of cigs. His front windshield was disgusting and had a thick layer of nicotine and tars embedded on it. I thought I'd do the guy a favor and clean it up for him. All cleaned up the trucker came to get it and went into the cab , saw the windshield and flipped out. He was pissed and asked who cleaned the windshield and why. I had to fess' up and he told me it took a good 6 months to get the windshield like that and that it --- blocks out the sunlight !! Who da' thunk it? He was furious, I looked like a fool.

I had another truck that came in. It was disgusting with filth, old food and stunk like a garbage pit. I refused to work on it until the slob cleaned it up. In comes the trucker, an older gal --- yup, a lady. Go figger.' It took her half a day.

If you run by a dollar store ... some of them sell cans of carpet shampoo made by Sherman-Williams --- its great and removes all smells; then run by a carwash and by a couple of the hanging air fresheners in "Tobacco" scent. That should solve your problem ! Best Wishes and Happy St. Patrick's Day !

The kid acted in normal fashion today. So many people are conditioned that everyone dislikes the taste of tobaccos they just assume that you wanted to get rid of it instead of asking you. While you were definitely right to be angry you reacted very poorly.

reacted very poorly.
You are right. I should send them a nice card or something. puffy But, they were all standing there like they were waiting for me to be really HAPPY about the smell. And, I don't hide things on my face very well. I didn't really overreact terribly. Just some finger wagging and softly placed corrective wordings. This is Alabama, the state where even honking your horn in traffic will get you sent to anger management, and I am not kidding about that.

Why, it's just an excuse to smoke more, driving around in your truck to get the smell corrected. How bad is that? Yes, what is that air freshener they use? Is it even as innocuous as Lysol? It makes me high, in a bad way. You could fill your truck with salt or coffee grounds for a few days. No.

As you drive around, be patient with us poor people in our little cars. Some of us are pipe smokers too. I have only owned four-banger commuter cars, so I don't know the difference.

If I ever drive a Dodge Ram, I'm afraid I'll never look back, and go bankrupt at the gas pump. I'm always intrigued by EV's, but keep wondering about a road trip in an EV, how long it takes to do a "fill up" at a charging station. Other than a lunch stop, it seems too long. And does Tail Light Wyoming have a charging station?

I always look forward to getting into my truck after a day of not smoking at the office to be greeted by the smell of my previously smoked tobacco in the cab.
I love the smell of pipes and cigars anywhere. It greets me at the door of my home, the Briary, any bar I'd go into, and of course, my truck. The aroma of tobacco is very comforting, and I wouldn't swap it for any other aroma.

Thanks, yes, smoke more and more... I don't even understand what an EV is. I want no part of it. Yehhh, you can't drive a truck if you can't afford the gas. Prices haven't gotten too bad here in Alabama, but we did have a tax that they just implemented on gas that has just went into affect. To be honest, I rarely look at prices on things.
