Teddy, I almost bought that very watch last year. It has everything you need on a watch, and it's all easily readable. . Cool piece. It actually looks better in person than online.

For our first anniversary my wife bought me a watch I wanted for a long time. It's not a Rolex but I love it. A Citizen Eco-drive Diver. Solar powered, tough as nails and hopefully gonna last me a long time.

Teddy, my first "real watch" was a Tag. I bought matching new Tag Kiriums in 1998 for my girlfriend at the time and I. I still have it and it's still tickin! Brilliant watches!! Congrats!!

After wearing that Tag on a daily basis for near 20yrs, wearing this Hublot is taking VERY serious adjustment. The Tag, I never ever saw as a small watch by any means, but check this out...

Blueeyed, I've ALWAYS loved the idea of giving watches between loved ones, a metaphorical marking on the time, a forever reminder when you check the time. They are just about the best heirloom object as well... Not as good as a large storage unit filled with cash, gold, precious stones, all guarded by a magical dragon whose life is now dedicated to your treasure and protecting you... but no, watches are great as well!!

Still wear the same British Army CWC G10 watch I was issued with in 1989 when I made Lance Corporal for everyday at work, only on its 3rd battery and the same Swiss movement as the Omegas so I've never felt the need to upgrade. The long haired general did buy me a Tag for our 10th anniversary but it only gets a airing about 6 times a year.

My day to day watch is this Guess watch, it has a sentimental value because of who gave it to me and that's why I wear it but my favorite watch (feelings aside) is a Bulova Precisionist.

I am a huge fan of Fossil watches. Especially the self winding ones. But they only get up to about $150 to $250. Also I have 1 and would only want 1 more.

Brad, you ever lost that one you would have to go into counseling for 6 months to "accept" it!

This watch is my everyday one. It is a Rolex Oyster Perpetual Date Just. My going out nice watch is a solid 14K Carl F. Bucherer AutoDate. I don't have any pictures of the Bucherer, but have one of the Rolex.

Harris, VERY nice choices!!! The Bucherer watches I've seen were beautiful! Love the Roman numerals on your Rolex. I actually have been emailing around seeking to have a custom strap made for my Hublot. I'm placing the order tomorrow for one of grey alligator with a liner of eel. I've always been quite conservative, but lately I've wanted a flashier watch. Odd because I'm on disability and mostly at home so it's not like anyone will see it, but it's been an itch that my Rolex DeepSea couldn't scratch. It's likely after awhile I end up back in the Rolex camp. In a digital age there's just something somewhat magical about mechanical time telling. When the zombie appocolypse comes to pass we'll know what time it is.

When I needed to keep better track of the time I wore a cheap watch. I worked in the FL heat and went through many replacement bands and watches.

Now, I just don't have time for a watch. My flip phone or laptop or several clocks on the walls keep me informed enough for my requirements.

I can certainly appreciate the attraction for well made precision instruments, but I don't have any desire for them personally.

I bought my first automatic diver a year ago, a Seiko SKX009. It never kept good time and I've sent it back to the seller for evaluation/movement replacement. I learned that the specs on the 7s26 movement are pretty broad. So, I decided to go for something better and used my pipe restoration proceeds for this Borealis Seafarer II. It uses the Citizen Miyoto 9015 movement, which is pretty highly regarded. I'm not sure that I'll utlize the 4,000 meter water resistance feature a lot (well, not on purpose)....

Miyota movements gained panache after SWATCH group decided to limit ETA movements to their own brands. Kind of like codger blends gained panache when pipe "hobbyists" discovered them. Similar situations in that neither Miyota movements nor codger blends have actually improved in quality. That said, I have a Miyota-powered Invicta clone of the Rolex Submariner and it runs pretty well. Not as accurate as my genuine Sub, but damn good for an $85 watch. I wouldn't pay more than a couple hundred for a Miyota-powered watch though.

I love my wrist watches. I put them up there with a belt and pocket knife as things no man should ever leave the house without. I usually wear my cheap Timex to work because it really does "take a lickin' and keep on tickin'."

My favorite right now is a Citizen I bought sight unseen a few years ago. My treasured one is my Grandfather's pocket watch from the 1920s given to him by an uncle who worked on the railroad. It still runs like a champ and keeps very accurate time.

I have a few others purchased and gifted, but they don't get much wear.

My daily wear watch is a Citizen Eco-Drive Diver that my wife bought me as a first anniversary gift. I also have two dress watches, a silver and gold Citizen Eco-Drive that belong to my dad and a Bulova that I bought myself when I received my N.C.S.O. designation.

For fellow thrift mongers, since my last post I bought a Wenger online for sixty some bucks and am very impressed with its durability and looks. I think this was about half the MSRP, and at the low end of the pricing for this brand, but if you're looking for something like this, maybe check out Wenger. There are some fine Rolex on this thread. At those prices, it's something I might lose.

Very nice watches.

Removed the wrist watch at retirement almost 3 years ago, a Casio DataBank (I needed a simple calculator alway handy). I only use a wrist watch for scuba diving (as a backup for a dive computer)..

Now I use my iPhone, & a neat little app, Ship's Bells, which chimes on the 1/2 hour.

I also use the position of the sun to get a rough estimate of the time during the day, & don't need to tell time after dark.

Though not a Luddite, I use an hour glass, half-hour glass, & egg timers for most short-interval timing, but use the iPhone timer when cooking or grilling.
