He also spent a year on the International Space Station with an all female crew.

I really admire those ads. They make you somewhat envy and admire the persona (the character played by an actor in the ad) but at the same time parody the super macho mythic aspirations they exalt. It's quite a contortion, and through it all, they help you remember the product they are selling. From an ad creativity point of view, you can't do a whole lot better.

Why does the younger guy look like a cardboard cutout?

ha, just stumbled across this thread from a few months ago
Jonathan is a good friend, lives a few miles away from me and sometimes stops by the shop for a smoke.

All of the pieces are finally falling into place.... Of Course Mr Steve Norse of Vermont Freehand ( fastest shipping, most selection, best pipe making supplies supplier, great to deal with and all around awesome guy ) would be friends with The Most Interesting Man In The World! I also have a sneaking suspicion that he may also be The Flash. If anyone here has ever ordered from Vermont Freehand you know what I'm talking about. On several occasions I have placed and order and minutues later walked to the mailbox to find a large box of briar and a feint hint of pipe smoke still lingering in the air. I think he only puts the shipping labels on the boxes just to maintain his secret identity.

Thanks for bumping this. Loved those ads on TV and the radio. I have a cardboard cutout of him manning my bar in the basement. Not a beer drinker at all either.

ha ha nice Nate.
Now we know what Peck looks like. :nana: (Since Harris hasn't been around someone has to bust Peck's chops)

The beer company gave the most interesting man (the actor) a pink slip and auditioned for a new guy. I haven't seen him in ads yet. I think shifting the actor might not carry and the ads won't be as fun. We'll see. Other notable figurehead actors have been Colonel Sanders who seems to have shifted to a comic-ironic version that wasn't so good, and now back to a more "real" Southern Colonel in somewhat confusing ads. The Burger King people had a mascot, a sort of rigid plastic king with a person inside, that was downright creepy, showing up in peoples' beds and so forth (remember him?). The burgers always give me acid anyway.
