Imagine being a fully signed up member of the meat eating fraternity only to suddenly find you are allergic to meat šŸ˜±

I do wonder if ex Forum member BROBS might have genetically modified the regular tick into this monster the Lone Star Tick in his laboratory somewhere deep in the woods.

Jay.

I have no problem with people being vegetarian or vegan... It's fake meat substitutes that I despise. If you think it's wrong to eat animals, why try to duplicate the flavor and texture?

I think cannibalism is wrong, and I don't go looking for imitation human meat! Make your choice and stick to it, stop pretending eating meat is gross and unethical while you are pretending to do that very thing.

You despise them? In what way are they negatively affecting you?

Many vegans/vegetarians grew up eating meat products and there can be some comfort/practicality in being able to reproduce recipes with which they're familiar. Do you not actually see an ethical difference between eating plants made to look/taste like animal products and eating processed animal flesh? If you were forced to eat either a plate of human flesh or a plate of plant based human substitute, would you see a difference then?

I know you asked WhiteCrown, but there is an objective answer to this. The processed "plant based" "foods" that are available on the shelves in my area are actually worse for you than cigarettes. They are actively unhealthy. It's despicable how those who make it label it as a viable alternative. And it's equally despicable how those who drank the Kool Aid turn blind eyes to those poisons.

Unfortunately not as far fetched as it sounds...just not a lone individual off in the woods, but actual mad scientists.

It's gone far beyond a personal choice and is now part of a fervent RELIGIOUS belief system that masquerades as science.

Anything and everything is justified by these people in the name of "climate change", and with advances in technology there's virtually no limit to the insanity they will attempt to implement.

You gotta love that this guy is considered a "bioethicist". These people have no ethics at all.

Five ways a bioethicist wants to change our bodies to fight climate change

Dr. S. Matthew Liao, a bioethicist at New York University, believes that solving climate change starts with the individual. Thatā€™s why he suggests we turn humans into cat-eyed, meat-allergic, semi-genius, hobbit people.

How Engineering the Human Body Could Combat Climate Change

From drugs to help you avoid eating meat to genetically engineered cat-like eyes to reduce the need for lighting, a wild interview about changes humans could make to themselves to battle climate change.

I lived with a girlfriend that was 100% vegetarian (mealtimes were a proper farce with 2 entirely different meals cooked every time) and I posed that question to her. She couldn't come up with an sensible answer.

We lasted about 8 months together.

Regards,

Jay.
For want of a better phrase, that is 'meat and drink' to any veggie or vegan, and I am amazed your girlfriend didn't know the answer. It's because meat products taste good, that is why they try to replicate the flavour.

I adore meat, but my girlfriend is vegetarian, so often Iā€™ll cook with a meat substitute instead of cooking two separate meals so I can get my fix! Most are horrendous, and the few good tasting ones smell like cat food before cooking, but for things like tacos or in a ā€œmeatā€ sauce, thereā€™s enough seasoning that you could probably eat ground up mulch and not know the difference.

Generally if Iā€™m cooking for us I just make meals that donā€™t use meat or make dishes where the meat is a stand alone side for myself, but itā€™s nice to shake things up. Itā€™s a little more work and a little less palatable, but I envy her commitment to living more ethically. I love meat far too much to give up, but Iā€™ll readily admit Iā€™m living a less ethical lifestyle than her. One of the many things I admire and love her for - she loves meat just as much as I do, but managed to give it up for a decade plus at this point.

Thereā€™s also something to be said about never being asked for a bite of my steak šŸ˜‚

I would argue that most vegans and vegetarians arenā€™t saying that meat tastes bad and thatā€™s why there are meat substitutes. Now, are these overly processed ā€œmeatsā€ healthy? Not really but I donā€™t care what others are putting into their bodies. What do you propose they eat? Food that tastes like colors and sounds?
