After a long day I was happy to see the Postman..
Had my first bowl in the new Chacom.
Plum Pudding, a first for me.
It was not quite what I thought it was going to be from the description and a few reviews ai watched online about it.
I let it dry for about ten minutes after rubbing a bit out for the first smoke in the new pipe.
I liked it, but it was much lighter than I expected.
I do not know if it being an unsmoked pipe had any effect on the overall flavor, probably some.
I think personally it is a very nice tasting smooth smoke but from my limited experience a tad different than some other English blends I have tried.
I did about a little over a half bowl to maybe three quarters of the bowl, just getting to know the new pipe.
Couldn't get a pipe cleaner through, but thats ok.
The hole is drilled pretty far to the side and there is a bend to it, so I wasn't surprised.
It didn't not affect the outcome too much in my opinion.
It draws very nicely.
The coloring and briar are very pleasing to the eye, for a purple pipe she really is a looker.
I could have packed it a little more and let it dry longer, had several re-lights.
No harm no foul, not the pipes fault just a beginner error.
Plus, I probably need a lot more practice and expirience working with this style of cut.
As I smoke more of the PP and break in the bowl I think it will be even better and the taste will develop a deeper flavor.
Very smooth, nice flavors...no burnt tounge which I though might happen.
Sweeter too than I expected.
Great aftertastes.
Burnt down to nearly ashes, and had just the ever so slight gurgle.
The pipe is ok to clench, but just ok...the balance of the bowl vs. the bend and the distance between each along with the weight make it a little less comfortable than some of my other pipes.
However it fits nicely in the hand.
The smooth matte finish feels very nice, and it never got warm.
I ended up putting a rubber pipe bit on the stem and that made a big improvement for me personally.
My Sav 602 is much nicer for a clenching smoke, lighter of course.
It feels good in the hand and it a handsome pipe.
Pictures really do justice to the color and texture of the pipe.
I like having no filter or inserts to deal with.
This is going to be a great kick-around pipe and will definitely be in my daily rotation.
