Decided to open my Secret Santa gift this morning as it is shaping to be a busy day.

Included was a note on very official looking stationary:

My secret Santa was more than generous.

3 new blends I haven't tried (3P sounds very nice), some pipe cleaners, a pipe nail, and a new cob. I'm very humbled my the generosity shown me, especially because the Canadian Customs tax stickers were on the tins, so I know Santa paid full freight on them!

Thank you very much Santa!

My wife has a large collection of Santas. There are eleven Santas in the picture below. Each one was hand painted by a local woman on pieces driftwood that she found while traveling. My wife purchased one a year until the woman moved and quit painting driftwood Santas.
My favorite is the blue Santa in front with the dog.

Well, no Secret Santa package. But it is of no matter. My family is reasonably healthy with only my oldest sick with Covid but she works with Covid every day, helped develop the PCR test and it was bound to happen after literally working with hundreds of thousands of Covid samples... We just wish she were at home for Christmas but we will Zoom.. And she is feeling better, my friends seem happy, and it looks like a White Christmas after all. The house smells of wood smoke, bolognese sauce for tonight's lasagne, a red velvet cake in the oven, and bread proofing. I hope everyone is having a similarly great day.

Thoughts and ? @aquadoc, ppl in the first line of defense from this 21st century plague don't get enough praise. so thank you, daughter of aquadoc!

the first meal of Christmas has been utterly destroyed: first course my dad's soup with my brothers filo dough with cheese and herbs, main was my balsamic glaze beef short ribs (came out better this time!) with condiments and desert my brother and brother in law made raspberry ice cream and a fruity cake.

I tried... I really did... but I can't just stare at a box with tobacco in it and not open it.

The Carolina Small Batch is always a welcome addition. The Fillmore is from '17 and has a small bulge already. I'm going to put that in my C&D drawer for further aging.

The Wingfield seems a tad controversial. Some say it has latakia, others say no way - it's just Virginia. Some love it, others detest it or label it just plain boring.
I think I'll open it first and see what the fuss is about.

Big thanks to Wayoutwest! Hope you have a terrific holiday!
