Same here, although I'm off coffee for Lent.

I'm enjoying a cup of tea right now actually, and it's fine just fine. Just great, really great tea. Don't miss the coffee at all, nope this tea is fantastic wow what a nice tea.

What I like the most about tea is that it spreads the caffeine absorption over a couple of hours, unlike coffee.

It’s so that you never really feel like you’re awake, unlike coffee.

So, Imma put on my Buzz Killington hat.. and come off like a pompous know it all so bear with me..

Caffeine..

Officially the amount of caff in a beverage is related to inputs and brewing methods..

By inputs
Variables..
Roasting Time of the coffee and amount of fermentation of the tea leaf.
Green Coffee has the most Caffeine, Dark Roast the least
Green Tea has the least Caffeine, Black Tea the most.

By Method:
Caffeine is an alkaloid oil. The bitterness of either beverage if you will as an indicator.
It takes time in contact with hot water to extract said oil.

So therefore brew methods:
Boiled, Percoloated more Caffeine
Steamed/Short steep less Caffeine

So If you have a Dark Roast Espresso, you will have way less Caffeine per volume than a percolated light roast..
Or a long steeped Black Tea, vs a short steep Green Tea,

You get my meaning..

So.. as a general rule in terms of Caffeine from most to least

Turkish/Cuban/Cowboy Boiled Coffee
Percolated Coffee
Drip Coffee
Espresso
Black Tea 2 min steep
Decaf Coffee -Drip
Green Tea 2 min steep

For me...

I have a heavy cream and dark roast Espresso in the AM and a Lapsang Suchong blend tea in the afternoon.

Coffee for some reason hits me quick.. the tea much more slowly.

I could live without the tea for weeks... the espresso.. no... I NEED IT!

I used to love my cuppa, by now I rarely drink coffee. So for me, it's not a sacrifice. If it was the choice between sex and tobacco...
Well we know what you choose between sex and tobacco. Sex, if you can barely get it up now....?

I’m glad you stacked from greatest to least in caffeine, espresso is the least caffeinated form of coffee. Most people look at me as if I’m an asshole when I say that. I love espresso, it’s got the best flavor. But if I want more caffeine, I’ll brew some French Press for around 11 to 12 minutes.

I would hate to have to make this choice, but honestly, as much as I enjoy my pipe, I NEED my caffeine some days so I'd probably give up the pipe.

Who am I kidding! I can get caffeine from other sources! I'd give up coffee! (I've done it before for other reasons)

If you had no choice but to give up either Coffee or Tobacco, which would you give up?
When I was diagnosed with duodenal ulcers, my GP who had hassled me about my smoking and drinking for years, advised I give up coffee, tobacco and alcohol, I said 'Alright, alright' Doctors grin quickly disappears 'I'll give up the farkn coffee then'.

That was 30 years ago. Since then I might have 2 or 3 coffees a year. But when I do it's always a good espresso.
Tea sweetened with honey is very soothing AND it has caffeine. :)

I just can't seem to get the same "fix" from tea as I do from a good coffee. I've tried to substitute many many times and it just never cuts it. I wish I did get the same satisfaction from tea, because i know tea is alot easier on the stomach.

I have to go get a blood test every six months. The vampire room opens at 7:00 AM at the clinic. I am there at 7:00 AM to get stuck. In the parking lot in my car is a thermos of coffee and a loaded pipe. You better believe I go for the coffee first. Yes, I am addicted to caffeine even though my limit is two cups each morning.

I love my pipes and my tobacco, but life without coffee is unfathomable for me.

My name is Steve, and I am a coffeeholic.

Seriously Steve, you'd give up baccy before coffee?
Never heard of Red Bull or caffeine pills?

Although I drank several cups of coffee at the time [I worked very long hours] switching to tea was too easy.

Well, just like with blends, taste is one reason why some of us like coffee. I'm not in it for the caffeine. And I'm highly inimical to caffeinated drinks like Red Bull(shit). Heck, when even one of those bottled Starbucks drinks gets me all spaced out, I don't even wanna think what would happen with one of those 'power' drinks. ?

Don't get me wrong, I love the taste of coffee but part of the appeal is the caffeine that many of us don't even notice apart from it making us feel good.
No different to when I smoked cigarettes. It's not that I noticed the nicotine hit but rather, I noticed when I didn't have Vit N coursing through my veins.

Switching from ciggies to a pipe was at first a compromise. Now it's my preference. Cigarettes were an addiction. Pipe tobacco is an enjoyable pleasure that I no longer crave because I only smoke blends with no stronger than mild nicotine levels.

Although many coffee drinkers say that they love it just for the taste, I'd wager that it would not be so appealing for many, if not most, if decaffeinated was the only coffee available because many aren't consciously aware of the effects from the caffeine, but rather, notice when they don't have that caffeine coursing through their veins when they need it.
[Hope that makes sense]

Yep, all forms of tobacco are for nicotine. All the caffeinated drinks are for caffeine. Simple as that.

The real question is which would you choose if you could only have one, caffine or nicotine?

I drink decaf, but I have sense enough to know its not the same.
