The monkey's paw of pipes has arrived. And dear sweet oscillating North American bald-headed Jesus, it's even more hideous in person. The site's being wonky and not letting me get to my album to upload, so I'll try and post a picture of two once it's set to rights again, or the host is done with maintenance or whatever.
A smoking report will have to wait until I find out how to clean the stem, as it's kind of goobered up with what I assume is oxidization. Or the souls of the unwary, I'm not sure which.

Zippo is there for scale - it was oddly larger than I'd anticipated, not sure why.

Not sure I managed to capture it in the image, but one thing this pipe is going to have an issue with, is they drilled/poked/hacked a hole on either side for those ... ears? Antlers? And the inside of the bowl is dusty, (imagine that!), so I'll probably want to swab it out with alcohol and a Q-tip before I take the plunge.

Strangely enough, I think I made that very sound when I got my first up-close look at The Abomination. (That's its name now.)
On the subject of the stem, do I just buy regular ol' stem polish and elbow grease it clean, or is there a preferred method for when the oxidization (or whatever) is heavier?
