Most of my collection has been curated through Thrill-of-the-hunt, rare and famous artist collecting. I own no unbranded or unknown pipes. I believe there is significant residual value on my collection after I am no longer able to use them or die so there’s that to be deducted from my purchase prices when all is said and done.
I am a germaphobic but that doesn’t stop me from buying pipes from the estate market. In fact, my collection would be significantly smaller if it did because most of my pipes would not be affordable or justifiable to me without the estate market. I have very specific sanitizing methods and believe that they are as sanitized as brand new when the process is completed and as a bonus, I don’t have to break the pipe in. Most smoke sweet and seasoned (if that makes sense) from the first bowl.
