Couldn't we just stop people making ugly posts and stop others from getting offended and responding rudely with the same 2 step solution that gets applied to every other problem on the forum?
Step 1: More drying time
Step 2: Smoke slower

Hah! Those two sobriquets apply, metaphorically, to chilling out before making an unfortunate post.
Note: Are people who make such suggestions rude, or are you referring to the rude response to those suggestions?

Funny, we adults spend so much time teaching our children that words don't really hurt us, and to turn the cheek, and that the words only reflect the speaker... then we watch a group of adults get bent out of shape over a few words. Whether the poster meant it or not.

I have gotten into some lively debates on here, and sure they went on for pages, but we were arguing ideas or concepts.
There is a plaque on my chiropractor's wall that says, "Great men discuss ideas, average people talk about events, and small minds discuss people." Or something to that effect. I'm not saying that I am great, but at least I try.
