That's a great weekend engineering project resulting in a killer tamper. Probably works well for espresso (I think that's Latin for "bitter coffee") as well.

UPDATE: I've placed the beautiful metal work in the hands of Michael Parks. He's begun work on a commission forms and will be using this to make a matching tamp made of briar and mammoth bone. The pipe will be a LF group 6 Diplomat in a partial blast with thick mammoth collar... and now with a matching tamp! I couldn't be more stoked about this!!

That sounds like an awesome pipe/tamper set Nate. Look forward to seeing these when they're done. :puffy:

mortonbriar I have friends at Bell, Flight and Columbus Coffee. Where did you work?
Pat, I just noticed I got asked a question, I was actually working as a jeweller at the time, but our company was sponsored by 830, the best roasters in town I think. When we got a fancy new espresso machine in a barista came in for a day and took each staff member through a tutorial on making a good coffee, after that they just turned up each week with a giant bag of beans...I got my tamp on.

That's awesome Nate and Eric.
Hey Eric any chance you could start a group buy for those tampers and we can find someone else on here that came make the handle portion?

Nate caught me at a good time, I had a small piece of stock on hand and I didn't have any other projects in the works. Once we get though the holidays and things get back to semi normal I'll be able to do some figuring.
