So I rode into work with my wife. I do this when neither of us have any late afternoon meetings.

She just informed me about a meeting she forgot. This means I am stranded in a town of 1200 people. But I got all excited, anyway. I can slide over to our little grocery store (formerly a Piggly Wiggly) and hit up the deli for some chicken strips. There will likely be some good ole boys from town there wiling away the afternoon for good conversationand great food.

As I reflected on my good fortune, I thought hey, at this stage of life, I'd rather go to this strip club than the ones I used to occasionally visit in my youth!

Not this:

I remember one time, having a few drinks in one of these clubs, a thing with tits approached me, were they tits? and three days' worth of beard, I have never set foot in these dark places again. But I don't remember smelling fried chicken. Damn it, I thought it was like in American movies.memes-icegif-2.jpg

Portland, Oregon, circa 1993. Dancing Bare club: steak and fries with a Coca Cola $5.99. Same era: the viewpoint club. Buffet Fridays with beverage, well i don't remember, but it was cheap.

Excuse my ignorance but what exactly is a chicken strip (the edible variety)?

I'm guessing strips of chicken breast that is coated in batter but you can never be sure when it comes to American food

Jay.
Chicken strips are not American. It is a Southern spin on Chicken Schnitzel. Most Southern cooking is where we take German foods, but we make them taste better.

Chicken strips are cuts of chicken breast that are breaded in any of 100 different seasoning/batter combinations and deep fried. I am perfectly content with bone in fried chicken pieces, but my wife prefers the strips. They are also called chicken tenders. This is not to be confused with chicken nuggets which may (almost always does) use lesser cuts of meat.

Edit: the second picture of the original poster is of chicken strips.

🙂

I don't fuck with Piggly Wiggly chicken strips anymore... The line is too long.

I don't fuck with strip clubs anymore... because I don't hate money as much as I used to.
I've never been to a club. I've seen a few shows. One at a coworkers birthday party they begged me to go to. Honestly would have rather watched paint dry. It was just weird. Though at least I got a slightly amusing story out of the stupid lap dance thing. Though both girls were like if I knew them and talked to them and liked them they'd have been pretty but nothing I'd be excited to see otherwise.
And then I was friends with a few strippers (honestly started from our love of the writings of James Joyce) and when I was fat 330 something lbs they tried to convince me that I could make money if I did the monthly ladies night (males on stage ladies in the audience) like quit my job money. I have no idea what they were smoking. But I kept getting free shows that came with instructions for what to do on stage. That was not too bad :).

the tender is a piece of muscle that's under the breast. It's sorta attached to the breast. In fact sometimes it's sold as part of the breast but you can usually remove it with just your hands.

Most of the schnitzel dishes I've had have been tenderized with a hammer. None of my chicken strips have undergone that abuse... lol

Edit: But I recognize it as the original dish.
Schnitzel is as varied as Chicken strips can be. They all don't have to be hammered flat, and each family has it's own secret batter. We used to have a fast food restaurant called the Chicken Finger in my home town in the 70's. It was owned by a German family that Had been making them since the 50's. We had a bunch of the Paperclip Germans,
They would gladly explain that battered friend foods are just variations on German foods. Chicken fried steak, etc...

But anyways... history no one asked for.
