What a great idea,

let's procure the trademark to an esteemed old Irish plug tobacco and make something totally untrue to what it once was.
Any artist must face intense critique,

if the skin is too thin,

then one shouldn't try to be an artist.
I'm simply being honest here.
Should I fabricate grandiose themes of how absolutely wonderful the supposed resurrection of War Horse is?
I think not.
Honest critique is valuable and can be used constructively if one navigates such waters with the aim of being true to the original.
Why wouldn't one be true the original?

It's beyond me.
Ifya don't wanna be true to the original,

then name it something else.
Why go through the expense and bother of acquiring a hallowed brand and then releasing such an obvious insult to its once former glory?
I don't understand.
I'll be trying each as new blends...
That's fine with me,

but you won't be smoking War Horse.
Just because many people can appreciate the new incarnation of Three Nuns doesn't mean that it's actually Three Nuns.
Three Nuns without perique is not Three Nuns,

the truth is only enamel deep on tin top,

or sticker deep as we've degraded suchwise.
Do those people think they are smoking Three Nuns?
I don't care either way,

it ain't nunna my beeswax,

they can dwell in slumberland all they want,

but Little Nemo always eventually wakes up from the absurdist dream.
...as opposed to being excoriated.
Honest critique is necessary,

we already have enough over-inflated hype as it is.

You've posted your opinion, based on your palate, your sense offense is a personal observation, and as such is not open for debate.
Of course,

most of what I've said has been plied thru my personal prism.
We are discussing the merits involved with a revived old classic Irish baccy named War Horse,

as asked,

I'm offering my opinion.
:puffy:
The receipt of the sample hinged on a request for the recipient to give an honest review.
This has been my honest review.
There are quite a few other reviews out there as well.
I didn't take a conventional approach to reviewing it,

but I have given my unfiltered thoughts on the pre-release sample of WH R/R,

and I believe such a perspective lens was what was asked for.
Of course my response is a personal observation,

how could I posit anything else?
Here's my nonpersonal observation:

the historical facts surrounding Gallaher's War Horse are not open for debate.
The facts are the facts.
Back to personal observation,

have I not presented the historical facts and commented upon them?
I can only be a cheerleader if you give me something to cheer about.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion. If we all agree it would be a terribly boring world. There are many who think that the German made Rolls Royces cars are an abomination and that the only true Rolls Royces were made at Crewe in England. At the end of the day our blender gave W.H his take on the tobacco based on our analysis and best guess of the RR composition which was probably also used to make W.H cigarettes as far as I know. The Plug is and will be an altogether different animal from the RR or 'Loose Cut' and whilst the RR seems to appeal to a wide range of North American tastes the plug or 'Bar' is a very specialized market. That being said 99% of those who have sampled the RR seem to not only enjoy it but actually wish to purchase the product which makes the exercise at least commercially viable. I for one do not fancy having the F Ross Johnson experience with the RJR Smokeless cigarette as illustrated below when trying to mass market a plug that would knock most mortals on their backs. That being said I really appreciate the time and care your have taken to inform Dan of the deeply held opinions you have for this blend which has not been manufactured since 1980.

He sneaked in didn't he. Lately I've been smoking John Cotton 1&2 , bought 10 tins couple weeks ago. I"m a Nitecap Guy, Cotton is a good smooth smoke. I won't worry if if doesn't taste like the dirty crappy days of Yore, wasn't there, I"m here now, like it. But then I"m just a Simple old Cajun not used to the finer things of life. Didn't know what a raincoat was after working on Dads shrimp boat.went in Navy and they gave me one, I asked what is this? Keeps you Dry was the answer, Goooolee, what they won't think of next. :laughat:

Hmmm. Missed it, but only in one sense that I didn't see it. Saw enough yesterday. A sad situation for sure.
So, I'll to the bin and pack some BS into my bowl. That's the "Celebrated BS", BTW, IIRC.
Now, in case you've been missing for a month like Harris, or are new, I do mean Bengal Slices!
