Business will take me to the UK later this year. Looks like The Pipe Shop is the most inviting and historic of any B&M in Edinburgh. Anyone have experience with them? Will be a bit of trouble for me to get to them so I wanted to know if the shop is worth the effort.

I buy a host of pipes every few months. Great customer service and they get to the states quickly. Wish I could see the place in person, good luck.

I've been there once. But it is the only tobacconist i've been to in person, so I cant really compare it to anything.

It is very small. Run by some young men who are more into cigars than pipes. However they do carry the good european brands and I noticed some Solani tins there too. They have lots of Dunhill, Rattrays, McConnells etc. A few nice pipes, but not that many.

Don't expect tobacco wizards. And pipe tobacco is behind the counter. They might let you come in there, they certainly let me, but it would be a good idea to consider what to buy before you get there. Nice guys though.

Was there a year ago. Small, yes, but great crew doing a brisk business (based on a 15 minute sample, once!) I got a nice Parker Hungarian for under $35.00- in their basket collection.

I bought two Parkers from the basket as well. Both bent. One is good, the other I threw out eventually after trying for a while to make it work. Drill was off center and the tenon was too short. The pipe gurgled and a pipecleaner wouldn't go through. But they were basketpipes so I'm not complaining.
