I have a bent Brylon I must have bought in the 1970's. So much of that decade is a blur that I can't imagine not only why I bought it but why I still have it.

I know I'm going to catch it over this.
But, I have always wanted an Avocado colored pipe.... or was that electric blue.

Either will do.

I'm afraid I've never heard anything positive about these pipes, but I'm willing to be educated.

DANG! Lawrence wish I had known. One of those nasty avocado ones went in a batch I peddled for real cheap to a nice old coot a few miles from here.

hilojohnny,

The Brylons were a thermoplastic resin and as pipes go they were pretty bad. If I ever get to yaking pictures of my collection I'll include it. Its brown and as boring as things get.

Interesting stuff! Igloo, I have a question on the valueing system. One of the green billiards looks virtually brand new yet only scores a 62 points. 62 out of a possible what?

I gave "the pipe" (a black straight Dublin) to my dad for Christmas one year. I noticed he didn't smoke it very often compared to his "drugstore briars" and I wondered why. Years later, dad was gone, but "the pipe" was still here and since I was a pipe smoker myself by then, I tried it. Worst excuse for a pipe I've ever smoked. If you tend to minimize the importance of cake, heat dissipation, moisture absorption, etc. in your briar or cob, try "the pipe" which has none of those! I'm surprised my dad didn't disinherit me because of my "gift". :)

EGADS! That took me back a day or two. Atari and Commode Doors 64. Then I died and went to heaven when I got my Windows 3.11 machine. No cartridges or 5 1/4" floppies.

The author of that site, Billie W. Taylor II, Ph.D, is actually a member here. He was one of the first to sign up after I met him at the Chicago Show in 2009.
If you look at his profile, notice what he put for the type of pipe he usually smokes. It is, "Plastic Pipes Lined with Pyrolytic Graphite".
That choice was added just for him.

Sadly, Brylon pipes are still being made. I purchased one a few months back not having ever heard of Brylon and thinking it was just an overly finished pipe.
Terrible, terrible pipe! I wound up tossing it out the window at 70 mph.

First smoke on Grandad's "the pipe". I'm pretty sure my grandmother picked it up for him on a shopping trip to Buffalo. There was some cake so it means he put at least a few bowls through it. Well, I just loaded it up with Original Choice by MacBaren and I'm smoking on it right now.
"Dishwasher safe" is something you can't say about a Meer, Cob or Briar!
Half a century later and this high-tech beauty is yet to catch on.
Go figure!
