+1 to blackhat84 on the metal mini screwdriver...just pulled mine out of the kitchen junk drawer!

Nice length to it...nice weight...not pocket friendly, but, I don't walk around with my pipe much.

Most of the time I use a broke off tip of an antler tine, but there's usually something handy around.

Blackhat84:
Perfect.
I've been in IT sales and installations for over 25 years and those little driver sets were popular branded giveaways back in the 80's and 90's. (I still have a complete boxed Iomega set circa 1985.)
What a cool share and welcome to the forums!

Per the posts above from ssjones and johnnyreb, and ode to tbradsim1:
On Bradley’s porch in old Monroe

We will puff, and smoke-rings blow

With pipes in hand, we’ll talk and view

The cane-fields, sunset, and PMon, too

And when his Wife the bell doth ring

We’ll sup on gumbo, that’s the thing!

Then back for one last pipe ‘fore bed

And wish these friends great days ahead!

Hunter,
You really are quite the talent and I mean that sincerely! Maybe on that same trip we could sit on your porch and talk all things Mr. Foote, etc?

Hunter again well done, Mr Shelby had the most pleasing voice and demeanor bar none, could listen to him talk all day. Oh read your ode to the wife, she got a great kick out of it, you should publish.

When you purchasing a tamper, pls make sure that the tamper that you get will work with your profitable espresso machine.

Whatever works. When all is said and done who gives a tinkers damn what you use to tamp down tobacco, much less care, or someone else ever taking notice of. A .29 aluminum pipe nail, clothespin, or a $120 Dunhill tamper (what a joke!), they all in the end achieve the very same purpose.

I guess a Dunhill Senior Stainless Pipe Tool is OK if your Rolex is a Submariner. But would clash if a gold variety.

I recently began using a 'nail set', or counter sink. It's got a nice heft, a pointed end for picking, and ergonomically placed knurl. I used to use (still do on occasion)both a half clothes pin and a golf tee.
