My advice is: If you are serious about your cellar, get a business license, start a retail online store, order everything that you want wholesale, then shut down operations.

At first that sounds smart, except that inventory left over is seen as profit, and you'll have to pay taxes on for each you that you still have it. This is why you have to liquidate.

The better thing to happen is start a business, stock up, and then accidentally have a fire, in which all inventory is completely lost. All burned down to clean white ash. :puffy:

You may save a bit. I am doing that now. The price sheets I am getting are not margain wise anything fantastic. After my state tobacco license and tax #...ugh. I can get a better deal buying from P&C in cases such as Dunhill Navy Deluxe.

You have to live in the sellers state, in order to be charged the tax.

I order items for my mom via Walmart, and because it originates in Maryland, to a Maryland residence, she pays state sales tax. I believe Amazon also does this, based on the seller.

If I had my mom's stuff delivered five miles away, to PA, she'd pay no tax.
When I used to order tobacco from Faders, they charged me sales tax (MD to MD).

Not sure if Amazon takes the sellers location into account, but Amazon has been charging customers sales tax if Amazon has a distribution facility in the customers state. Which is probably in every state, at this point.

Sorry to grab my shovel and dig this up, but:
I am visiting PA in July and would like an order from SP.com or P&C to be at my hotel when I arrive so the tax is automatically charged to the order correct?

I must be missing something. This sounds complicated.

Mike just order it to your Hotel. SP doesn't levy the PA tax they just report your name to the PA tax authorities. What do you care if SP reports your name to the PA tax authorities. You don't even live there. I wouldn't worry about it. That is what I would do in any event.

Somewhere outside Philadelphia. We're doing a family trip to that area, and thought I would order some tins while there. I remembered something about state sales tax being added on, but it still comes in way cheaper than I'd pay here.

It is the same thing in Ohio. If you did not wish to charge an out of state customer the OTP (other tobacco products), you are required to document where the tobacco was going, what was ordered and how much. Or, eat the tax and do not report at all.
