Yes.
I have one P-Lip pipe. It's in my regular rotation. If I find a pipe I like with a P-lip I will buy it. If it doesn't have a P-lip I will buy it.
Maybe I'm just ambivalent to P-Lips.

My experience suggests it's not the p-lip that's causing a restricted draw. Were the recent purchase estates? If so, how cleaned?

@jpmcwjr yes 2 were estate purchases although one of the 2 has a brand new peterson fitted stem and is slightly less restricted.I had better have a real good go at the stems incase they are partly restricted with tar.

I assume this is what your suggesting

I am neutral. I have p-lips on my two Kinsales and they are fine. However, Kinsales are big pipes and not really suitable for clenching - more of an armchair pipe. Frankly, it doesn't make a lot of difference under those conditions. Mike

Every Pete I've owned was a P-lip. Never had any issues with them. Best design in the world IMO for easy clenching in the jaw w/o too much pressure. Easy to hold onto, and if the smoke goes more upward than you like, just tip the pipe up higher a little and it brings it more into the middle of your mouth.

Smoking one for the first time ever tonight.
Just received a lovely estate Peterson(a hybrid poker/chimney) from Wlrountree and this P-lip business certainly has a learning curve.
My Nightcap tastes off but I'm sure that has to do with the redirection of the smoke to the soft and/or hard palate. The mouthpiece is more than likely as idiosyncratic as I am, but we'll get each other figured out eventually.
First P-lip and first Peterson. It's a red letter day for me.

So after reading this thread, I tried the plip bit in my cob pipe again for the first time in a long time. It's not as bad as I remembered. It clenches differently than a regular bit, but it still clenches. I have to stick the plip pipe further in my mouth to light it. The draw is more restricted than a regular bit, so that is the big difference in determining if you'll like it or not.

curl: No.
It's mostly about mouth feel, your teeth, over bite or under bite, etc. Very subjective. I've not found I need to change the way I light up nor is there a noticeable difference in draw. I keep my stems clean though. Further, I rest all pipes amongst the back molars, do not really clench (little to no jaw pressure), and have a pipe (sometimes a cigarette/cigar) in my mouth constantly. I hardly notice the difference between P-lips, tails, cigars, etc.

I have one Peterson, and it is a p-lip. Sort of classic, don't you think? I don't smoke it often because it is old and developing a crack, but when I do I really enjoy it. It is my oldest pipe and has a very distinct flavor, no matter what I run through it.
