I am fortunate in being retired and, therefore, have no fears of unemployment. So, the prospects of the stimulus check is again causing me to rethink my belief that I'm done buying pipes. Seems that, whenever an unexpected chunk of cash falls into my lap, I immediately think of buying a pipe. Dang if there isn't at least 1 more pipe I want and will get.

I hope, but I won't even spend it in my mind until I see it. I am one of those rich retirees who lives on $1,100 dollars a month. Tax returns for 2020, 2019 or 2018? A 1099? If dependent on these I am probably screwed.

Right there with you. My company can work totally virtual when we need to (Boss does go in once a week for deposits and mail) so I have no fear of unemployment. I managed some tools before the stimulus, we're paying bills and funding a much needed emergency fund with that check.

You'll get $1200. $2400 if married.

If life as all about you ... that's a good answer. Personally while I can find some good and proper fiscal moves with regard to the virus, I see nothing particularly "good" about what it is doing to my fellow man, much as I shun him.
Lighten up Warren. I was just joking about getting some unexpected cash and how I now think I wanted to buy a pipe when I hadn't previously. Of course, there's much suffering with this pandemic and even the money being distributed won't go far for those without jobs. Am sure, as a result, that there will be further disbursements in the future. The economy will be hurting for quite some time.

If your bills are paid then spend as you see fit.

Hell yeah. I say buy that pipe and feel damn good about supporting a valuable and vulnerable industry. No shame whatsoever. Getting back to normal is a major part of what the stimulus is all about. Just be sure to post pics of the aftermath here.
