Could someone give me the TL:DR for how this works?
First of all, everyone is required to sign up. Generally, when you do that, you include your contact information and your tobacco preferences. You may also state those tobacco preferences in the thread, assuming anyone really cares about what you like. I've always specified tins of tobaccos priced at above $200 per tin at the minimum, but that never happens for some reason.

You are then matched with a sucker, victim, esteemed other member who will be the unlucky recipient of your discards generosity. The pairings are not reciprocal. Generally, a two tin limit of your most disgusting vile finest and rarest crap cellarings is considered optimal, but some showoffs particularly generous members have been known to exceed the limit, including gifts of poison laced candies, burnt out pipes, unruly children, used toilet paper, and thoughtful little gifts.

Given the current tariff chaos, I doubt that US to whatever the hell is out there across the pond parings will be made ever again this time around.

Not sure what it undertakes to put this on each year, but if help is needed in some areas I would be willing to pitch-in and help. #ManyHandsMakeLightWork
It’s time-consuming. Very time-consuming. Using Google Sheets cuts down the tediousness quite a bit, but it’s still a full time job with a lot of details that need to be watched. The matches, for example, really need to be done manually in order to sort them accoding to likes, geographically and who is willing to ship internationally (although I suspect that the rise of tarriffs and oppressive customs has put an end to that).

I need to see if I can use some kind of Mail Merge widget to send out the match notifications. That takes a lot of time. Does anyone have mad skilz creating emails that pull data from a spreadsheet?

On March 18, I received an email from Mike explaining why he was "stepping away from the forum for a little bit."

He and I have emailed back and forth a few times since then, including about a week ago. He and his family sound to be doing well, but I am not under the impression that intends to come back to the forum at this point (perhaps I'm mistaken, but I have not been led to believe otherwise).

As far as I know, I would not plan on Mike leading a Secret Santa this year.
Mike and I have been in contact with each other also. I won't go into any details. I don't think Mike will be back. But, who knows...only Mike knows.

I could also offer a pair of helping hands - let me know how I could help. Unfortunately I can't help with the email thing... but matching and whatever else count me in.

Ok I am in! Do I have to sign with blood or anything like that?
