FDA might be the icing on the cake, combined with all the other Gov. regs that are not small business friendly.....?

But if you love it, stay in there till it effects you.

Forgive my ignorance, but what is the genuine jist of these FDA regs? Do they actually threaten the ownership and use of tobacco and related items like pipes? They seem to have all but destroyed cigarettes for the average consumer (although how so many smoke shops devoted to cigarettes and cigars continue business is truely mysterious to me).

Ignore that last post . I've looked at the FDA website . It is truly frustrating and frightening . The FDA has its lobby and defenders for items,guns, that are far more dangerous; why don't we have some defending mechanism?

But to pipeinhand, I was just turned on a couple months ago to your Beowulf blend and it was TOTALLY INCREDIBLY SPLENDID!! Also BlackStrap and Halflings Leaf! I am so very sorry and sad you must shut down your business. I personally don't smoke sufficient quantities to even remotely keep someone in business but my heart goes out to you all!

Just as I greeted (and supported) the advent of Standard Tobacco I'm disheartened by your departure. Had I been more aware of your blends, I would have enjoyed your products as well and wish now that I could have done so. The hobby is diminished by your absence Sir. The enrichment of the avocation of the pipe by true amateur and small blenders like you is, in great proportion, what contributes to the richness of the hobby and therefore, you will be missed, even by those of us who were not your customers. Thank you for what you have done and be assured that your decision will be a source of regret, especially by those of us who have missed out on your apparently quite wonderful products.

Well said Bill. So many people think that the "system" craves tax dollars too much to entirely criminalize something like tobacco. They fail to realize the amount of money and power the system gleans from the black market.
When the idea that the government had the authority to regulate and/or outlaw "substances" became accepted, the precedent was then set for it to do so with any substance it so chooses.
