Now you get to organize them on your shelves! Alphabetically by brand? Or by type of tobacco, then subdivided alphabetically? Or go crazy and group by color of label? Or really crazy and embrace randomness?

The only place I've found for randomness in this entire process is the app I use to tell me what I'm going to smoke next. Load all of the blends into this randomizing "decision maker" type of app and when I open it, it puts 1 card, face down, for each of the blends in front of me. I just pick one and it flips it over and I'll find/smoke the blend shown on the card. Forces me to try all kinds of stuff without really thinking too much about it.

As for the organization, you hit the nail on the head. They'll be organized by type of tobacco and then subdivided alphabetically. The problem, right now, is finding the space for all of them. I have a feeling I'm going to have to build some type of shelving system in my closet. Going to end up sacrificing a lot of room in there, but it's not a big deal. Now that I'm back in Alaska full time, I only need a little room for the few pairs of obligatory Carhartts and a few hoodies.

I'm finishing up a semester of school today and have my last exam before a short break until summer classes start. I need to bust out the spreadsheet I made and do a complete inventory and update the spreadsheet so I'll have this situation back under control before it gets even more out of hand.

You can take a page from homesteaders/preppers and take the spreadsheet a step further:

Include a "desired stocking level" for your favorite blends, either by number of tins or ounces. Regularly log the smoked "inventory." Include a column that indicates the percentage of your desired level that you stock, and color code it to be red when you are below a certain threshold. You can then easily identify the holes in your inventory when you are shopping.

Some people go deeper and have an intermediate yellow step, e.g., 75-90% Yellow, Get Some If On Sale; <75% Critically Low.

Good luck on the exam!

I'm a young boy only about twenty years past the half century mark, so that shipment would last me until my 126th birthday, at which time I'd hope to go on another buying spree. Looks like some delicious goodies there. You can always trade around for other blends if the mood strikes you. Happy smoking. Don't open too many at a time, and don't open too few!

I spent about 3.5 months working down in Texas and kept buying things online to be sent to the house. The problem was I forgot what all I had bought and couldn’t see it in person to know how much I had. This was a recipe for disaster and here is the result. I still have a few more boxes to open as well as about a pound and a half of tobacco that hasn’t been delivered, yet. FML.

Wooooow! Party at your house! Is that some Exotic Orange (Passion) I see? I can’t find that stuff anywhere.

I have no idea where to post a message like this, and if I’m breaking any rules, I apologize. I recently had a health issue arise that is likely chronic and will drastically diminish my pipe smoking to special occasions only.

Since the photo above represented about 4 lifetimes of smoking at my prior rate, it represents about 10x that at this point. I’m going to have to start selling off the majority of this stuff otherwise it’ll sit at my house and waste away, only for some lucky pipe smoker to find it after I tip over.

I’ll be keeping a handful of them for the special occasions I mentioned above, but the rest are gonna start getting posted for sale over the next few days/weeks. If there’s anything that tickles your fancy in the photo above, shoot me a message and we’ll see if we can work something out.

Man, I’m really sorry to hear that. I hope you bounce back and prove them wrong, but best take whatever advice you were given.
