Whaaat? I thought Ian Holm was going to play Bilbo like he did in LOTR. He was an excellent Bilbo.
But I guess he's getting too old to play a young Bilbo?
And yeah brewshooter is right, according to the IMDB it's being done in two parts, with the second one being released in 2013 (probably a year later like they did the LOTR trilogy)

While I'm quite excited to see this movie I'm also kind of perplexed at some of the things they seem to be doing with references to the LotR series as far as the cast is concerned. Although maybe I'll be pleasantly surprised, I don't remember Frodo, Galadriel, Legolas (although the dwarves were captured by the wood elves so I can kinda see that one), etc. Although, I do see that Ian Holme is being brought in as "Old Bilbo" so maybe they're doing a tie in.

Supposedly the two movies will cover The Hobbit, but also tie in some cross over points with the discovery of The Necromancer, Sauron, in Dol Guldur in the southern part of Mirkwood.
