Hello,
I have a Canadian shape pipe that I think may be from the 1950s or 1960s, but was wondering if anyone could confirm it. My pipe is marked the following:

The (in script) (over) GUILDHALL (over) London Pipe

On the opposite side is marked:

Made in London (Circle format)
296B

The reason I am thinking it is from the 50s or 60s is because the shape letter 296 are very ornate. The number 2 has a very distinctive swirl at the top that folds into the number and is smaller than the numbers 9 and 6. Those numbers have elongated sweeping tails.

Also the word Guildhall and London Pipe have the letter style I believe are referred to as sherifs. When I look up that font style, that is how it is described.

I would post a picture, but the stampings do not stand out very much from the pipe. I have to use a 3x magnifier to see them clearly.

Thank You for any help in this matter.

I have a The Guildhall London Pipe 296 with the same stampings. These were so faded, apparently with over-buffing, that the seller mistakenly identified it as a TG London Pipe 58. With a jeweler's loupe one can clearly see the 296. It was sold to me as a pre-Cadogan and the stamping style struck me too as being from the 50s or 60s, although I don't think I'll ever know for sure.
