Interesting to hear all the perspectives. I too find that GLP blends tend to develop on one's mind :). 3 days in a row and still a glorious smoke. I think Greg also plays with our minds in naming and descriptions. His narrative sets the smoker's expectations and creates a mood. I believe this is part of the charisma of his blends!
His setup for SixPence is very well put:
You enter the dark paneled room, its walls lined with ancient books. An antique table stands beside a leather club chair. Upon it, next to a small silver coin, an open tobacco tin entices you with an aroma deep, rich, authentic. You fill your bowl, strike a match. The first puff stops time as the smoky magic weaves its spell...

Sixpence. The mystery continues.

When I read that the first time I just wanted a tin of that :-D.

Oh! cigrmaster, so just red va gives certain people tongue bite?
hmmm, I wonder if that is the cause of the problem I occasionally encounter, but chalked up to smoking too fast, wrong pipe etc.
I will start to take notice.. thank you!
But I LOVE Sixpence!! I'm really looking forward to what this will be like in 5-15 yrs

monty, you will be able to tell if you have problems with the reds by paying attention to how your tongue feels pretty quickly after lighting up. If you are getting a burning sensation like acid being poured on your tongue right from the get go, could be your body is not designed to handling the reds.

Just a quick update on my SixPence obsession :)! I gave the remaining tobacco a food processor treatment and boy is it tasty like this! It burns a little faster but I think the overall gain is better. I remember pipestud saying in one of the threads (and also on a review on tobaccoreviews.com) that he does this to all his tobaccos and never got a chance to try it. I'd like to think that someone with 1269 reviews knows what they're doing and boy does he :).
Thanks pipestud!

I just rubbed out a bowls worth and I'm going to pack my pipe shortly.

The food processor idea is intriguing, might have to whiz some up in the Magic Bullet next go 'round? :puffy:
