I did the IOM TT back in 1987, one of the best 2 weeks of my life despite the first week spent camping in a sodden & muddy potato field.

'Mad Sunday' was particularly memorable. This is when spectators are allowed to do the full course while the pros take a day off from racing. I thought I was doing rather well on my GS650 GT (my pal had a GPz 750) until a crowd of GSX1100's etc came roaring past as if we were standing still .

To be standing on the pavement (sidewalk) while a group of professional nutters come whizzing by only about 6 feet from you at speeds of 120+ miles per hour is something you don't forget in a hurry.

My pal and I did Assen in 86 and 88 but the IOM was by far the better event both for the racing and the atmosphere. Long may it continue.

Regards,

Jay.
