I sometimes smoke a straight virginia blend in a pipe normally dedicated to english/balkan blends, and find the ghost of latakia to be a particularly pleasant addition to a bowl of virginia, anyone else do this?

I enjoy this with some Virginias also, especially a lackluster VaPer. It adds just a touch of interest sometimes. I also find that a pipe dedicated to aromatics can sometimes add a "friendly ghost" to a latakia based blend. Not all blends. There are some that I still prefer in a dedicated pipe. I even have a few pipes dedicated to very specific brand tobaccos. Astleys 109 gets its own pipe for example.
Good post!
When first joining this forum I was instructed by the learned to absolutely separate the pipes into, at the bare minimum, lats and va's. However, it would be much better to separate into las, va's, va/pers, orientals, etc.
I tried that and gave up when I realized I just didn't care. I enjoy ghosting (don't smoke aros). I guess my palate is not discerning enough to mind the overlap
I have Salad pipes (VA), Meat pipes (English), and Dessert pipes (Aro).
Will I grab a bit of steak with my salad? Sure.
Do I wait to clear my palatte before diving into my cherry pie? no.
I have dedicated pipes (But only 2 to specific blends), but I will mix it up sometimes for flavor.
Good post.
