Hello everyone,
I thought this group would appreciate the paper that finally solves the long-standing enigma of the "REG. No 654638" marking on early Dunhill pipes.

For decades, the precise meaning of this number has been a topic of speculation. Thanks to the meticulous archival research of Jonathan Guss, we now have a definitive answer. Guss uncovered the original documents in the UK National Archives, revealing that the number refers to a British Registered Design from February 28, 1916, protecting the novel shape of the mouthpiece lip.

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend.

thanks for sharing. Is this information found by Jon a recent development?
Also, the QR code at the end of the paper is not activated.

I can't say for sure if that's a recent development; it actually came out of one of our own conversations. Who knows? Perhaps he'll drop by and share the story with us himself.

You don't miss a thing! Haha. We ran into a technical issue and had to change the link. I'll be sure to correct it as soon as I can. Thank you for catching that. Have a wonderful weekend.
