Damn fine job, and downright amazing for a self-cut. Good for summer heat. I haven't had hair that short since boot camp, but it was useful there not to have to comb it. My wife likes my hair shaggy, to go with my bohemian self, and she's done a good job of trimming it during the virus time. I don't know whether to go back to the budget stylist or to ask her to keep barbering. Aboard ship, our senior cook used to barber, back on the fantail of the ship, and the wind would do the sweep-up. Again, it was nice not to have much to comb. Also, he did it as part of his job, so no cost.

My wife said she loved my hair long but after the first time I buzzed it she quickly reminds me when it gets a little length to it. ?

I make a pomade from beeswax, shea butter, and jojoba. Similar to the mustache wax I make but with a lower percentage of beeswax.

I’ve used several brands. The Layrite works best for me. I shampoo daily and have fine, oily hair, it less oily than when younger .

I have not had a haircut in 15 (ish) years, it got past my shoulders a bit in 4 or so years and then after that it seemed to just stay that length (apart from the ripped out lumps that get construction glue in them).
The thing I like about long hair is there is no 'style' to maintain, it just is what it is, like all the other mammals ha.I do like your approach of tackling the hairstyle yourself, cutting out the middle man with his own scissors!

Yeah, with long hair it was just comb it back and done.? I've been the family and neighborhood barber for a few years now but none of it is as satisfying as cutting my own.

I'm not sure I wanna attempt a fade myself. I'll have to live with the basic self-haircut with the edges growing like wild grass. ?

Get mine done the same way for many years. Skin it on the sides, short and flat on top...

1 on everywhere and 6 on top. it's rather tricky getting the transition.
