Under cover of darkness, thieves have stolen $200,000 worth of dimes from a truck parked overnight at a Walmart in West Philadelphia.

My friend JC texted me and asked what Scott’s Salvage near Humansville would pay for two million dimes.

I had to do some figuring, but it would be about 10,000 pounds of dimes, and at $3 a pound for scrap copper (there’s not much nickel in a dime) Roy Scott might pay about thirty thousand for five tons.

But the Scott family runs a good Christian operation and wouldn’t consent to fence that many dimes.

But let’s say you checked your junk pile and found two million dimes, all bagged up, and only your conscience was your problem.

How in the world did the thieves plan to spend that many dimes?

I guess, they could spend them all making phone calls and playing the juke box.:)

More ruminations:

Walmart allows trucks to park overnight?

Walmarts usually have lots of cameras

Mint official: please sign a bill of lading for 750,000 dimes

Trucker: I’m going to stop over at Walmart tonight and be on the road tomorrow, will that be all right?

Mint official: Have a nice sleepover!

That truck driver will meet some nice men in dark suits who will want to ask him a few questions.:)

Seems most likely it was some local petty criminals that were just breaking into things to steal shit, broke into the truck an they carried off what they could in their vehicle, minus all the dimes they dropped all over the ground.

Obviously they had a car there so yes it would be amazing if they didn't have this and the car all on video.

The most desired businesses to set up, so that you can launder money are actually businesses that use change, like arcades and laundry mats. Of course, I can't even think of what type of machine would take dimes... Besides a bank, I can't think of any business that would accumulate that many dimes. And, I am not sure that banks would even have that many dimes on hand. Even parking meters don't take dimes any more.

CoinStar machines, there's a video out there of one of their "sorting plants" millions of coins at a time. It's crazy how much money they bring in.

This is true. At least you'd get some free drinks out of it, a discount voucher for the buffet, maybe a comped room...
Yes i used to have quite the gambling "hobby" when i lived in San Diego, lose $1000 at the tables and get a "Free" pack of smokes and a "free" steak dinner, to be fair the steak house at Barona was one of the best in SD .. LOL

Gotta stick with the pass line + full odds, one or two come bets + odds, and maybe place the 6 or 8. Maybe. And stay away from all those sucker bets in the center of the table! Even the dealers prefer their tips to be pass line bets.

I don't even mess with roulette, even if you can find the European tables (no double zero). Terrible odds. Best to save your money for the next C&D bulk sale...
