I have security footage of two fires in particular that are wild. Unfortunately I can’t post them, but here’s the breakdown.

1. Stove top fire. A dog is pawing at a stove to get to a pizza box on it. The dog inadvertently activates a burner, which ignited the box. The dog starts freaking out and actually goes and wakes up the owner. It’s actually pretty good stuff.

2. A cat activated a toaster. The cat pushed down on activation lever. When the crumbs in the toaster ignited the cat hopped down off the counter. The cat then sat on the floor and watched the fire. When the fire got big enough to form a ceiling jet the cat was satisfied and casually walked away.

Crazy part about the cat story is the owner was on the couch sleeping and didn’t know anything until the smoke detectors fired off.
Moral to the story, if you are going to own a cat, keep fresh batteries in the smoke detectors.
