I love it! I love a natural finish, a thick edge, contrast, grain, craftsmanship and vision.

Permit me one comment in critique, and please don't consider me anything but a guy with mostly corn cobs and old estate pipes who has yet to even attempt a kit...

I'd like that pipe even more if the colors were more 'matched' from in stem & cap.

Zack, i would say you have outdone yourself this time, but the reality is that you seem to outdo yourself with nearly every pipe you make, lol. Your work consistently gets better and better and the level of craftsmanship increases all the time it seems. I really love the contrast with the natural finish and the black palm, not to mention the beautiful cumberland stem to top it all off. Great job sir, great job indeed.

Dang man I'd hate for something that was the cause for so much problem to sit around mocking ya like that.. Tell you what I've got 4 no 5 pair of fresh(ish) mens dress socks, one never used pooper scooper, and jelly of the month gift card good for 3 months that I'll trade you for it. I don't want you to have to come out empty handed or anything..
All joking aside your should try working with Wenge, talk about splinters.

That is a beautiful pipe Zack! I have used the Black Palm a couple of times on shanks and stems and made a couple of tampers from it. It is a PITA to work with. I started buying stabilized Black Palm pen blanks for my tampers, easier to work.

Gawd dayum!! That's gorgeous!! I've worked with black palm before, but never at anything that ambitious or beautiful. That's incredible... Beautiful work, and a beautiful pipe.

Beautiful, but how does it smoke?
If the actual chamber was made out of black palm, I would suspect it would smoke like a sun-dried dog turd...:) What you basically have is the black palm for decoration over the smoking chamber of Calabrian briar...and that tends to be a sweet smoking briar...I usually use a 4mm draft and a stem that will pass a doubled cleaner so it should be a nice open draw...this particular briar was completely flawless- not the slightest suggestion of a sand pit- I only see that in maybe 10% of the blocks...
one never used pooper scooper
Trade you even for that one-my cocker spaniel is a never ending fountain of poo...
I'd like that pipe even more if the colors were more 'matched' from in stem & cap.
In retrospect, I can definitely see that- I may try another one with a deep micro blast, natural finish, and a black ebonite stem...I have some amazingly beautiful exotic wood coming in that I've never seen or heard of...and it should be very striking as a cap...

The use of exotic woods as trim around the bowl and matching at the stem is something that not only makes for an eye catching look, but sounds to become a Signature design aspect for you. I don't recall seeing many pipes with this kind of motif. It works!

SMP.com has a new Tinsky bent apple with a red palm cap and ferrule on their update today.
I saw the preview, but couldn't get to the actual pipe...what I saw looked great..

Zack, you always produce pipes that are true works of art, but this one is absolutely magnificent! Hope it smokes as good as it looks.
