It truly amazes me how often I go to the pipe shop to enjoy a bowl or two and end forgetting a tamper. I must have 20 of the damn things in the house from $100 to a $1 but I can't be bothered to remember I'll need one. Half the time I use my finger and half the time I just buy a pipe nail.
I have one right now. Lost the other one that I actually use. The one I have will never ever get used. It came with a pipe and the same company that made the pipe sells these meer tampers that look like chess pieces for way more than they're worth. And the thing is I find the basic pipe tool to work much better.

The burning question is this. Why do you have such an issue with tampers that you felt the need to write a short story to decry their usefulness? A whole lot of effort to simply say "you know, you don't really NEED a tamper."
nothing wrong with flexing creative muscles. The world would be really boring if people suddenly only did things that are overtly useful and practical. Ironically we'd miss out on so much useful stuff and lots of fun.

I guess you're right. I just figured there had to be a backstory here somewhere about a tragic tamper accident or something.

It's actually very well known that Rooster shot his eye out as a kid with a BB gun. His mother and father and even Santa had warned him...

Wait so you expect me to believe that Ralphie is short for Rooster? Now I get why you keep trying to sell my bridges. I may act the fool sir, but I tell you I am too broke too pull one over on so try your entrepreneurship on someone else and yes I will expect a commission since I worked essentially in the capacity of a consultant.
