I have had the good fortune of having procured some Condor prior to the asshat stiffing our beloved provider and I gotta say, it's a special pipe blend indeed. One analogy I use when describing its virtue to others is that all other pipe blends are like appetizers, usually tasty and satisfying but Condor provides a full course meal. I've never smoked anything that is as rich and complex in flavor and intensity. A real treat since I have so little, it comes out when I really want to just chill with my pipe and maybe a good read.

Interestingly, it appears that "our beloved provider" is still providing...to members of that OTHER Website founded by Papa Smurf or Papa Tango or whatever username he now goes by!

@huntertrw you are indeed correct as many of my friends were banished to the far planet but strangely enough everyone over there pays up promptly without me even having to chase them! I find that to be an absolutely fascinating statistic. You will have also have probably noticed that I donate equally to both Box Pass operations without participating in either so no one can accuse me of favoritism as well as act as an occasional Mod over there! Now if you would kindly supply me your address I will happily mail you your large wooden spoon!

I guess it is like the old saying, One Bad Apple Spoils The Bunch, or at least spoils it for the rest of the lot. What it all boils down to is this, if this particular member who put in his request for a Tobacco that is not even available in the States would have had the decency to pay his bill, then I am sure the Universal Import would still be provided to any interested members of PM. Simon, is a true Gentleman in every sense of the word, and takes time from his private life to help members out who may otherwise not have the opportunity to try these wonderful Tobaccos. I feel like what he is doing on another Forum is no ones business but his own, like he said, at least the members of the other forum were brought up to know, If you intend on purchasing something, you need to have the means of paying your bills promptly!
Cheers,--Eric

Mike, you might say I am fairly familiar with The Green Goddess, but Simon is definitely The Condor King, He and myself are the only smokers that I know of that are Brand loyal to Condor. After 30 years of Pipe Smoking and cigs before that, this is the only Tobacco that can meet my needs of Nicotine strength as well as what pleases my taste. I have found my perfect blend and I have no desire to look further. Happy Smokes!
Cheers,--Eric :D

I would like to smoke more Condor, but the price is steep. Has it always been this expensive? But UK taxes hit the other UK plugs like McQuaid and St. Bruno and Walnut the same. As a remedy, I only smoke a bowl a day in a cob, but given that the plug naturally reduces to several layer thick, even the pieces I load take awhile to burn, so that means an hour's smoke for me.
Does anyone know about the oddities of manufacture and distribution? I read that the loose cut is made in Spain and can't be sold in Ireland. Why would they possibly make the loose cut in a different location? You can't tell me that when the Japanese bought Gallaher that they didn't get a press and slicer, and as they make the plug in Ireland, why not the flake?
Finally, why limit availability to the UK and continent? Condor has a big reputation and following. Why not start up the blinky ads on pipesmagazine, for instance, and get a US distributor? That they are plug crazy in the UK doesn't mean that the the ready rub and loose cut wouldn't sell here. There's money to be made, and as corporations are godless entities given to the rapacious chase of money, why don't they agreeably chase it here?
I'm sure that I'm overlooking something.

One thing I will say is that smoking Condor outside is an adventure. I have never had a tobacco burn down to such a fine ash. I was smoking on the balcony and a breeze hit at the wrong moment and I had a face full of ashes. lol

I'm on my third bowl of this, wasn't sure about it this morning but I've decided to order more. My first impression was that it had that faint taste soapyness or whatever it is but that is not as pronounced in subsequent bowls. I think it will make a nice change occasionally. I do see what you mean with the fine ash, doesn't take much to send up a plume of it.
