The Chicagoland Int\'l Pipe & Tobacciana Show

I am going to the The Chicagoland Int'l Pipe & Tobacciana Show in a couple of weeks.
Is anybody else going?
The show dates are listed as May 2 & 3, but when you read the details there's lots of stuff going on before that. They say ...
"There will be a pipe making seminar on Wednesday April 29th and Thursday April 30th. We will have pipe focus group seminars. There will be tobacciana seminars on Friday as well as on Saturday evening, plus many other show related activities."
I am flying out on Thursday so I can catch the seminars on Thurs & Fri.
Anyone else going?
If not, why? Cost? Time? Don't like Chicago? Your wife won't let you go? Your dog ate your homework?

Actually, I'm afraid of the anti-smoking activists who may attack and kill us for our unhealthy lifestyle, of which they do not approve. All kidding (?) aside, I'm just a humble pipe smoker and consumer, I'm not in the pipe/tobacco business. I rely on learned participants like you to go there and return with the necessary information and critique for the troops.

I wish I could go, but finances and work will not allow it. I am hoping to make the CORPS Show in Richmond in October though.

I met Rick Newcombe, Author of "In Search of Pipe Dreams". I smoked a pipe with him, chatted, got a picture and he signed my book.
I'm officially a "Pipe Author Groupie" now!
The show events here go all day and all night. The smoking tent is open 24 hours and when I left at 1 am, the bars and food were still open.
They have events from 9 am to 1am! Now that's some serious pipe enthusiasts!

I met a guy named Steven. He is a chef in Chicago. We hung out and smoked for a few hours, drank rum & beer. He let me try his GL Pease Maltese Falcon. I liked it so much, and he gave me the tin!
I told him I liked his pipe a lot too, but he didn't give me that. LOL.
This afternoon I am attending:
3:00 pm - Collecting Pipes Seminar

4:30 pm - Pipe Repair Seminar

5:45 pm - Internet Pipe Sales Seminar

7:00 pm - Welcome Dinner
I met the guy doing the Internet Pipe Sales Seminar. We smoked and talked to 1 am last night. He is real cool. His name is Rob Cooper. His is an Internet Entrepreneur like myself, making a living off the Internet, so we had a lot to talk about.

I have Newcombe's book. He's also an excellent public speaker. If he is scheduled to speak, make sure you don't miss it. He knows a lot of Danish pipemakers, as you can appreciate from his book. Try to get him to introduce you to them by email or something. Maybe you'll get a good deal on pipes as nice as those in the book! Continue having a great time.
