newbroom- I do think we all have periods of palate drift where stuff just doesn't taste awesome, and eventually it gets better.
I do think you have a very great misunderstanding of the intent of your physicians- something I commonly see, the sense that we are blindly driven by getting another medicare check. The reality is the reimbursement isn't that direct, and medicare pays jack crap compared to private insurance companies, so seeing medicare folks actually costs us money half the time.
I manage 13 docs and 3 PAs....concealing things from your primary care provider won't help you and just so you know....no matter how much you like your cardiologist, urologist, GI guy....I promise that part is the ONLY part they are paying attending to and a general practice doctor who is involved in your care helping tie the pieces together....that's your saving grace man. In fact, we think insurances are going to insist primary doctors handle more than they used to before sending to specialists because continuity is important.
Off topic, but just friendly input.
Back to your palate- I'd guess its transient and will get better. Just the other day I found myself not craving or enjoying pipes and thought "Oh crap, have I outgrown this hobby and wasted a ton of money?" Then last night a pipe sounded amazing and I sat down and I a wonderful bowl of Christmas Cheer and was back in the saddle
