Anyone who believes the new scam bills out there are all bull. These scams are a joke. There is a warranty scam bill on tv and they are all a scam. They claim they will pay your car bills. Guess what, they are all third party bills that pay nothing. They are 3rd party scam deals that have a crap 3rd party scam bill, they are not a mfgs warranty bill. Don't get scammed by these maggots.. They are all third party maggots and after enough people file claims, they will tell you to piss off and you will be paid nothing. Back when I was in the car biz we were told to sell these bullshit warranties and I refused. Since I knew what they were and I had factories I could sell which I did. I refused to see these crap warranties and these I could sell and I refused to sell these warranties and I had plenty of real factory warranties I could screw people on. I could sell a factory warranty for 2500.00 and it only cost me 250.00. I loved robbing people on a real warranty. I had no mercy.

So true. The variety of grifting out there is vast. The pseudo calls from Amazon saying you have a suspicious billing on your account ... that's not how Amazon would notify you; it's all b.s. The mailings dressed up in official looking envelopes looking like they are purveyors of health insurance benefits from the government aren't from the government at all. I suspect and despise any envelope that does not have a return address, or a P.O. box. Free estimates are just to get in the door, beware. Unfortunately land lines are about half scam calls. The charities for firefighters, law enforcement, veterans, etc., give a minute percent or nothing to the claimed recipients and buy BMW's with the rest. Anyone who shows up at the door with a clipboard is a suspect. A spiffy company uniform isn't an exception. When my friends call, and I answer with the "death voice" of guarded aggression, I have to shift to my cheery voice and explain we've had a lot of scam calls.

Somewhere, I imagine a conversation like this, between two men at a bar trying to pick up an attractive woman:

Jim the Socio-path: You need to be careful of Steve over there. He'll say or do anything to get you to go home with him.

Steve the Psychopath: Don't listen to Jim. I know for a fact that he just wants to sell you a worthless car warranty. Let me take care of him for you (at which point Steve pokes Jim's eye out with a pool cue).

Honestly I'd be more impressed if they picked up a heavy woman. Heck even I can lift up most attractive woman they typically weigh less then 200 lbs. Just kind of a weird thing to do. Not sure why they have to dis each other while doing it too.

In general, paying for additional warranties are silly anyway. The people that sell the warranties have worked out the math and sell them as a highly profitable add on. They're not selling them to be nice. That says you are likely to pay less yourself from a statistical point of view. You'd be much better off taking the warranty money and putting it into a low risk investment. If you need the money for a repair, pull it out. If not, you've got that money saved away.

Same with insurance. I shake my head at people that pay tons extra to buy lower deductibles but then ignore all kinds of other options they may really need such as Ordinance & Law. If you could afford a $2K deductible, don't pay for a policy with a $1,000 deductible. Insurance is designed to prevent you from going bankrupt or put you in dire straights should a catastrophic event occur. It's not a maintenance agreement.

Here's another tip. Review your policy every year in detail. Call your Agent if you don't understand it. Insurance Companies sign you up and then send out a policy revision every year. 99% of the people never read it. Then you have a claim and find out the coverages changes in that post card policy revision you received and threw away without looking because it looked like spam mail. You may get hit with hail and find out your 12 year roof now only has ACV coverage and it's going to cost you $7,500 to get a new one. Allstate is particularly bad about this practice. If you have Allstate, pray you don't have a claim.

Wait; so I DIDN’T win “pounds 350,000” in an overseas contest I never entered??
Well; at least I still have that “proposal” from Phineas T Pennypacker Esq. who’s promised to cut me in for 10% of the 3 million dollar unclaimed inheritance. I’ve just got to pretend to be the rightful heir. I felt hesitant at first, but was reassured by Mr Pennypacker that he went to every effort to find a legitimate heir. I’ve only to send a $500 Walmart gift card to him to get things rolling. Woo hoo!

Caveat emptor, but also scammers who prey predominantly on the elderly should be publicly ground between two large millstones into a thin smear, after they’ve first been forced to watch the same happen to their family. I mean that in the nicest way possible.

Carshield doesn’t even provide the extended warranty: they are just the sales staff. If you look at the BBB complaints, it’s always “They won’t pay for.....” And the response from Carshield is always “We don’t provide the protection. We just sell it. Please contact American auto shield”.
A whole lot of sleeze in that kind of response.

Got a robocall a couple of weeks ago, purportedly telling me that I was one of the winners of a secondary prize from the Publisher's Clearing House sweeps. Went on with juicy details, rattled off some kind of number really quickly (twice even, but even if you had a pencil in your hand when the call came, would be hard to write it down), made a point to mention the big prize of $5,000 a week for life, said the Prize Patrol was cancelled by Covid19, and gave an 888 number to call.

So many suspicions raised by this call, I didn't even bother to check on the PCH website to see if they were announcing winners of this contest I never entered.
