Boston finally showed up on game night in Vancouver. Turned out to be a good series in the end.

As a Boston fan I'm glad to see them win it. Thomas definitely deserved the MVP. Not too bad of a game, and surely not a shalacking as a 4-0 score usually indicates. Gotta give it up to the Canuck fans for giving their team and the Bruins a round of applause on a great series, booing Bettman (as is customary), and tipping their hats to the hometown boy, Milan Lucic, as he hoisted the Cup.

I don't like "canucks fans" being blamed for what happened in Vancouver. In a crowd of 100,000 it just takes one asshole with a brick to start a chain of events. The same thing could have happened if Canada lost the olympics.

Sorry fella's, I gotta disagree,.....it wasn't just a few people...it was everyone who took part.

The first few may have been able to justify it for one reason, but each and every one of them was able to justify it in his or her own mind. Sickening.
Anybody else notice the similarity between the photos of the riots and the video games some of those kids grew up playing?

but they are the 2nd best hockey team in the NHL

Somehow, I don't think this is consoling Kesler this morning. First the silver medal at the Olympics, now this.
Having said that, it will be interesting to see what happens in the off-season. The Canucks have a few defencemen who are UFA's this summer. The core of the team is signed for the next few years. Luongo's signed forever... good or bad? You have to say that his performance in the playoffs was better this year than last. And with the Canucks only scoring 8 goals in 7 games, he had WAY too much pressure on him.

I agree Tommy that it is sickening that this played out the way it did. It is going to take the city a long time to get over this. The bad thing is, this same type scenario happened back in 1994 when they lost to the Rangers in 7 games. Once the ball got rolling, the rest just jumped in. Sometimes I just don't understand people. Your team lost, so you trash the city????

Tommy, you're right on this.

Tommy, a most irrelevant comparison, that could only really be made if you have no experience with games.
For the first time in my life, I'm embarrassed to be from Vancouver. I do however LOVE that facebook face recognition is getting many many many of the motherfuckers arrested.

Watched the game at a local watering hole, and the place was just wild. Haven't seen that much enthusiasm in years over a game. The most exciting series I've witnessed in many years. Congrats to both teams for stretching it out as long as they could!!!!!!! Truly a team effort by the Bruins to beat a great Vancouver team, especially on their home ice. Both teams deserve the utmost congratulations.

Agreed; both teams deserve recognition due to them. The Canucks played a great season; and made one hell of a playoff run, not to mention 95% of the roster is locked down for next season. The Bruins played through a whole ton of adversity, and Tim Thomas was a rock for them; I would say that he is the most deserving player of the Conn Smythe in years, if not decades. I was also happy to see the number of fans in blue and green that stuck around after the game to cheer for the Bruins (although not Betman, I don't begrudge them that!); those are the true Vancouver hockey fans, not the morons who destroyed our city. It saddens me that the actions of the mob last night have clouded the cup finals, when last night should have been a celebration of the great game of hockey; already under attack for violence...just as the anti's will draw corrolations between violence and TV, comics, video games, and heavy metal; they will now draw the same conclusions about the game itself.
As a proud Vancouverite, and long time Canucks fan, I am truely sickened by what took place in this city last night; I just hope that people realize this isn't indicitave of the true Vancouver, nor the true Vancouverite, but rather the minority. Look rather to the solidarity of the communities that make up the Greater Vancouver Area in assisting the police with identifying the rioters; look to the sheer number of volunteers who turned up this morning to help with clean-up and repairs, for this is the true spirit of our fine city.

Schmitz, I for one never believed those people were indicative of the true Voncouverite.

The video I saw of those miscreants showed not people that were mad... quite the contrary... they had smiles on their faces... And, big smiles at that.

I hope that all of the perpetrators are identified quickly, dealt with swiftly, and severely.

Their behavior was and is totally unacceptable.

I love the game of hockey, and it does not deserve to have its eye blackened.
I am a Birmingham Bulls fan. A minor team in the grand scheme of things. That is neither here nor there...

But, I do want to express my congratulations to the Stanley Cup winners and a hearty well done to the Canucks for a great season.
