Received today (05/08/14). There's a crap ton of tobacco in there. So here's the breakdown of what I'm taking and putting in. Total of 314g taken out, 560g put back in, took the small Trypis and the Comoy's sock. I've left everything else. Thanks for the chance to try some interesting blends! I've added Wessex Curly, Wessex Fragrant Virginia, Best brown #2, Hyde Park, GLP Charring Cross, MacB Roll Cake (I'm not a huge variety guy).

Here are the pics of the contents of the box:

I'll send the box out on Monday whether through Canada Post or I can drive it over to you Andrew (that's faster and cheaper). Let me know. Looking forward to the next box pass!

There was a lot more in the box than I could imagine. There was a lot of Bobs Chocolate Flake there so I grabbed some, and will try tonight. I would like to thank all of the members who are contributing so much, I feel a bit inadequate! I feel a bit guilty grabbing the little Trypis, and whoever put that in there thanks! My first Trypis that I like (perfect size). The beautiful thing about this pass is that it allows us to try so many different types of tobacco...

Thanks again guys.

I just got the box from shutterbug and just started looking through it and wow I am overwhelmed with excitement. Also glad to see that all the samples I originally put in are gone and hopefully being enjoyed by you fine folks. I will be taking what I can and adding probably more then what I take but we will see. I thinkbi like this carry case in here I might trade it with mine. I'll post pics tomorrow.

After passing the box on to Smokey, here's my impression so far of the Box Pass:

I was able to try approximately 11 blends that I would not normally have smoked.

7 of those 11 blends I liked enough to make note of it.

2 of those 7 blends I have added to my 'must buy list'.
The box is like a monster that just keeps growing, and the little baggies begin to take on the smells from a lot of the aros in there.

As I suggested to Smokey, maybe we should start an Aro and an Everything Else box... have 2 boxes going in rotation at the same time.

Based on the amount of names on the list, it would take at the very minimum 9 weeks to rotate (and that's being optimistic) to go full circle.
If we had two, maybe three boxes, it would mean:

i) More variety

ii) Quicker Turnaround (especially if we get more members for the third box pass)

iii) Less Stale/Crispy Tobacco

iv) A Smaller Box means we would be able to actually put tins as opposed to baggies to preserve tin note, prevent cross contamination, and allow for fresher tobacco
All in all, I would like to thank you guys for the chance to try some very interesting tobaccos. Having the chance to try so many different and sometimes hard to find tobaccos allows me to confidently reassure myself that I am in a certain tobacco camp (not that I didn't already convince myself...I now know what to stay away from).

Thank you all for the pass, and I look forward to the next round.

Either that or bite the bullet (size and weight) and use plastic bins (Seal tightly ones) for at least each class of tobacco if not for each sample. It would add considerably to the size (although the little tiny bins aren't too bad and only cost a buck or so at the dollar store) but not much to the weight.

If you guys decided to go with two or three boxes let me know and I will do my best to divide and seal all these blends accordingly I would prefer the following if we were voting on this.

Box 1 aros

Box 2 va , va/par, burley etc

Box 3 Latakia
All I smell right now is Latakia and being I don't smoke the stuff it's hard to smell anything else. And obviously those who smoke it can only smell aros it's a follow your nose sort of thing lol.

Another thing maybe we can also make three list being I would only be interested in box 1 and 2 that way box 3 wouldn't need to come to me at all.

As I sat and pondered which blends I wanted to try I thought it best I divide all the blends into three categories which are as follows:

Latakia blends / Aromatic Blends / Virginias and other variants including Burleys.

10373523_10152416301282889_1450255504151125290_n.jpg

After I pondered as to what I could add to help balance the the three types of blends.

10320604_10152416301322889_3491790271360626516_n.jpg

And I came up with this

10312606_10152416301167889_6551787807898457038_n.jpg

So I was also watching futurism awhile doing this and funny thing was pipe smoking was in both episodes I had to include these in this post lol.

Anyway the package is ready for the next guy I enjoyed it and hopefully will continue to in the future.

If there was an Aro's box, I would be in as well. I guess Latakia isn't for my tastes.
One suggestion could be to start out the pass prepared.
All members of said pass would list their tins, pioes, etc before the box even goes out.
Doing it this say ensures everyone gets ample time to get some tins in and everyone gets a tin of what they really want to try.
I know I was disappointed with how many blends I didn't want in this one.
I would love to share 6 blends I really enjoy and take ones I wanted to try.
2 100 gr tins cost me around $40 once they get here.

Quick update, the box is with Smokey. We had planned for me to snag it and deliver it to Brian on Friday. Then I contracted Norovirus. Given my inability to leave my bathroom or go out in public I won't pick up the box until Tuesday. Brian and I will go through the box next week and ship it out on the 23. Sorry for the delay, but it thought it would be better than having the box sitting in this plague home. F@$& this is a gross virus.

Gents, the box has come (almost) full circle, and would have done so a full week earlier had I not been dying. Fortunately, I recovered. Whew.
I picked the box up from Smoke today and was shocked, SHOCKED, I say, at the way it has grown. You guys are taking stuff out right?
Salmon, it was hard for me not to take all those flies. They are beauties, and look like just the thing for the browns and brookies in my backyard.
So the box looked like this:

So I took this:

Then put in this:

I will get the box into Brian's hands this weekend.
BTW. Smokey did yeoman's work segregating the Latakia Blends, Aros and Virginia Blends w/o Lat. nice work bro.
Good pass people. Time to add some more folks and take a roll call?

Great to see you were able to get your hands on some Sobranie.
I'm very excited about that. I may share some with Brian, if he's nice enough. Did you see that I put two Aros in the box for you and Salmon to indulge in?
PS - I put in half a tin of the new HH Latakia Flake in, how many of you guys are interested in trying this? I'll throw in a whole tin if it has a wide appeal.

Great stuff guys. Wouldn't mind being added in during the next cycle of the box, though someone needs to explain the rules to me.
