I agree with you shutterbug. I know that out of 6 emails he responded to 4 and then quit.
He also never answered another persons emails. To me show some respect. It would be no different then buying a pipe from someone and never receiving it. The box pass is free but people put stuff in there they paid for and also paid the postage.

If by chance your box is lost and you need something to pump it up, please don't hesitate to reach out. I would be more than happy to fatten that bitch up,

Well whatever happens i think im ready to start a new box if need be, trying the box pass again with pat and ghost was more a way of me thinning out the stash anyway and it wouldn't of hurt to try different blends along the way.
If the box comes back Great! i would love to see whats in there and love to add to it, if not we will move on and screen the participants more rigorously.
As for who vouched for derrick i will have to take credit for that since i believe it was me, i meet him in person and he bought a trypis off me a while back, As i mentioned he seemed like a good guy and i wouldn't expect him to steal the box, still don't actually whatever the reason im sure it was out of his control and now he maybe too ashamed to correct it.

Sadly shit happens in people's lives, however, not responding to emails after one has signed for something is not right in my books. Grrrr an I was next on the list darnit!

But you'll all like this one, Derrick just delivered the box. Before I say anything else, let me say this, Derrick is an affable guy who was deeply apologetic about the box SNAFU. He relocated for work and failed to update the list, and has been too caught up in work and life ... He made a mistake, owns it, and feels crappy about it. He also dropped a couple pipes in the box.
The box is back, Derrick smokes a pipe so let's treat him like any other brother who let the team down... Give him a chuck on the shoulder, a little bench time, and then send him back out on the ice with an, "Atta boy!" In that vein, I sent him home with some HH Latakia Flake.
I hope he sticks around on the forum, and reaps the value from this place that the rest of us do.
Ok, 'nuff said.
I'll tweak the box today and get it in the post to Salmonfisher before the end of the weekend.

Right, in light of recent events I'm making some sweeping changes to how we engage in and around the box-pass. I havestolen outright liberally borrowed these rules from the pass our American cousins are currently running. Where required I have translated American to Canadian.
The Rules of Engagement
Here are the basics: This Box Pass is a box that has a large variety of tobaccos for you to sample. It is sponsored by the members, not PipesMagazine.
In the hopes of mitigating, or at least limiting, disaster befalling the box, we’ve established a few simple rules. If you want to join the Box Pass queue, you must read and agree to these rules, pay attention to the thread and follow it closely. This is not hard to do, just "Favourite" it by clicking on “Add This Topic To Your Favourite” at the top of this page. Drop a friendly note on this thread every now and again, we like hearing from you. We really, really do.
Do not sign up if you do not have a stable address, will be moving soon, are going to school out of province, are heading out to run the family trap line, etc. You need to be an active, established member here to show that you will be sticking around, and are trustworthy.
The other several boxes that were "lost", or transited via canoe, which were the result of participants not having the above attributes. Favourite this thread, stay active on it, and make sure you're posting when your turn comes around to avoid being dropped. The list administrators reserve the right to drop anyone from the list who doesn’t toe the line, including themselves.
Once you're in possession of the box, post in this thread your intent to mail so that the next person in line can respond; if they don't respond to the list in time move on to the next person that does.
The Charter of Box Pass Rights and Freedoms:
If you want to be included, you must meet the requirements below.
Before you are approved to join the Box Pass:
1. Thou MUST be a member for a minimum of 6 months.
2. Thine post count MUST be at least 100 posts.
3. Thou MUST HAVE the financial resources to spend $20-25.00 on shipping the box to the next person. Thou will ALWAYS get a tracking number.
4. Thou MUST live in the Canada.
5. Thou must post a message to this thread AND PM Ghost or Pruss stating your desire to be included in The Box Pass
6. Thou MUST PM Ghost your:
Full name
screen name
address
email address
phone number
Your phone number will not printed on the list, or on the forum. You might receive a phone call if something goes amiss.
Upon your approval to join The Box Pass:

Follow this forum thread
Post your ability to receive the box
Be active on the list when it is your turn to receive the box
Post when the box is received
Post pics of the contents, and
Post when you are ready to mail it back out again, and wait 72 hours for the recipient to post that they are ready to receive the box in this thread
