Just now and again, in fact most infrequently nowadays, I get a stupid notion in my noggin to test this or that unlikely theory.

This morning, the thought came to me, prior to any tea and with an empty stomach, to roll a makin's in a long thin OCB, filling it with C&D Bayou Morning. Stuck a cardboard roach in, a most civilized construction.

First smoke of the day, I sparked it up. Lordy. Crikey on a bikey. I mean, it tasted nice... so I took it deep into my lungs and it was smooth enough, but then, the Vitamin N hit me like a 12,000 ton freight train in the night. It has knocked me out of the park, just a couple of puffs and the dizzies, the stomach, the hot and cold flushes...

I'll eat and drink, have another go - it's great! As a one off experience. Don't try this at home, kids.

Anyone else try improbable ideas on a whim? Let us know what you did and how it ended up.

I had that unpleasant feeling when rookie smoked peterson irish flake, it was delicious, but it left me out of my mind, on the couch, in death sweats.giphy.gif

It's funny you bring this up.
Just two days ago I packed a HUGE bowl of MacBaren ODF from the pound I recently purchased.
I don't know if ODF is known for a high nicotene content, but for the first time in my life, I got nicotene drunk. Hot flashes, flushness, heart burn, and just general crappy feeling.
I am a true nicotene junky. I have a dip in 15 hours a day, smoke pipes and cigars regularly, and have done this for decades.
It could have been something else, but all the symptoms point to nicotene overdose. Including a quick resolve after a Hershey bar and some water.
I was smoking the ODF for a bit over an hour while reading. I lost track of time until I came down with the sickness. :)

Much of my cellar translates very well to RYO.

I started smoking a pipe at age 62. So I never knew nicotine all those years. When I first started I would get dizzy smoking one bowl of any type of tobacco. Royal Yacht would really do me in. I would only smoke Royal Yacht at night and then go to sleep. A few times I have gotten sick to my stomach but not often. I now smoke fairly heavily so for the most part I don't get dizzy or sick. The nice thing about a pipe is that it gets hot and you have to put it down for a while, maybe clean it, and smoke later granted you don't get involved doing something else. So the pipe kind of meters the pace.

I like a bit of mild dizziness, that's a bonus, but sucking Bayou Morning smoke right into my lungs first thing was a new experience - I haven't had that big a blast since a F&T Deluxe Filter cigarette in about 1974 (they were super strong, handmade)!

I don't usually take down pipe smoke beyond the bronchia, and infrequently at that, so it was the full power of 25% perique that did it, I think.

Nicotine tolerance is like eye color in that you get what you're born with. The spectrum runs from three puffs of something strong and you start to feel sick, to nothing that can be smoked has any effect. (meaning not to be confused with an immunity to its deadliness in high liquid concentrations. That's not true for anyone)

Anyway, for better or worse I'm at the far end of the tolerance scale. A 2.75" deep 1.0" diameter bowl of chopped #4 rope, brown bogie, or GH Dark Flake in a closed (still air) room lasts about two and a half hours. And when it's gone, I fill another giant bowl with the same kind of tobacco and do it again. Zero yuckiness of any kind follows.

Also unusual is---assuming the world's trillion Nicotine is Addictive! stickers plastered everywhere are actually true---when I stop smoking for several days or even a couple weeks, I feel nothing primal-urge-y about getting back to it (or however addiction urges are supposed to feel).

I bet some scientist would love to have me available for experiments, sitting in a cage in his lab. lol

Oh well.

I hate the taste of licorice, cucumbers, and think raw oysters are disgusting, though, if that helps.
