Actually, since someone generous on this forum sent me a sample, I've become a Mixture 79 smoker.
It's like the American Lakeland... sort of like the relationship between a Cadillac and an Alvis.

Yes, I bought a bulk ounce a while back to try it. I thought the same thing.

I've not tried it and I debated whether to use Mixture 79 or Cpt. Black Grape for my "threat". (not tried that either)
I've actually not tried a bad tobacco yet, so I chose the most publicly decried I could think of.
Closest I've had is Hyde Park. Not bad, just... different...

Funny thing about CB Grape, the New Penzance, is it's quite OK
