Exactly i don’t care who is gay or whatever race i just want an entertaining story. That’s too much to ask for.
Couldn't agree more. I'm not the least bit bothered by a diverse cast or crew, but if that's the only selling point, I'm not going to be interested. Tell me a good story and I'll embrace the heck out of the diversity. Threaten to hit me over the head with another blunt DEI cudgel and I'll do my best to avoid that experience entirely.

How much did they have to pay you off to give such a glowing review?
Seriously though sometimes I watch a show or movie and I really wonder if the writers and director were not just realized from a basement for the first time since their birth. Or to put it another way, how could they write that dialog and also have talked with more then four human beings?
The astonishing fact for me is that the creator of this disappointment also created Russian Doll on Netflix, one of the most creative and enjoyable shows I’ve enjoyed in recent years. WTF happened?

Have to earn a living and attaching your name to a Disney project. I guess it’s still sort of a big deal, so far, considering they are buying up every major movie franchise there is so you have a chance to get attached to you know some mega blockbuster thing.

Legacy. Means a lot more cooks in the kitchen. I am sure the book of things that have to be this way and things that just can't happen is pretty big when you're dealing with a several decade long IP with an insanely dedicated fan base that's super vocal. Then you add the pressure of

The best thing about the Ewoks is that they are great over rice.

Lucas turned over all his rights when he sold the IP to Disney, so he has not real say about what they do. So far, I've enjoyed the Mandelorian, except for the most recent season which I thought weakly developed, and Andor.

Andor was really good, looking forward to that second season, wish it wasn't taking them so long though.

I stopped watching all things Star Wars after Attack of the Clones.

As easy as it would be to sit here and trash the franchise it would be pointless.

I could just as easily trash Disney (and even kind of want to) but they still occasionally produce something enjoyable.

I love watching Kiff with my daughter.

Never believe what the writers and directors say. They're reading from the script they're told to read from if they want another job. I have no problem with diversity, since it's been brought up, as long as it doesn't override competence. The problem is that many very competent people, including myself, have been denied opportunities rather more often than incompetent people being upraised to fill a metric.

All that said, it does seem that a merger between Boeing and Disney would be appropriate on some level, probably the lower levels of hell.
Meritocracy. Your tale is becoming too common, of tax breaks or public relations hires being brought in over qualified people.

Identity politics is just a new form of Jim Crow.

Unfortunately, at some point in your career your will be asked/required to conform with what some dolt in the front office wants from us. His job is not to create something new and original but rather to maintain the bottom line. That type of thinking rarely has room for taking chance. You have to be awfully talented to survive in that type of world.

Talent is part of it. The bigger part is being a rainmaker.

Fun Star Wars factoid:

The cast of the first movie were bummed that they had to settle for something so obviously doomed at the box office. A silly comic book story written and directed by a beginner.

They thought the big star-making production that year was going to be Smokey and the Bandit Part 2.

It’s wild how much money Disney has tossed in a pit, thrown lighter fluid on, and lit on fire with all of these atrocious Star Wars spin off shows.

If Disney wants to push a political agenda that’s fine, just make sure that the story is actually well written with endearing characters. It’s really that simple.
