What a beautiful pipe. If it were me, I wouldn't smoke it. I'd keep it in good condition and give it to my (future) son to smoke (once he'd learned on a less historic pipe).

And now I'm stuck with the horrible dilema of, "to smoke it, or not to smoke it". 8O
I know what you mean. Whenever I find a virgin, I always throw her up on a shelf while I try to decide if it's really worth it... said no man ever.

Congrats on that beauty. As for me when it comes to deciding to smoke it or not.... "hmmm let's see here. There's a hole going through the stem and shank to the bowl that also has a hole in it where a good few pinches of tobacco would fit quite nicely...." 'SKRITCH' (that's the sound of a match striking). Yep! Smoking that bad boy! :D Enjoy the heck out of it!

Made the horrible discovery a few minutes ago that it accepts regular sized pipe cleaners, so maintanence won't be an issue.....crap. Yeah, it's probably going to get smoked.
